    Cayenne turbo or x6m

    Need replacing my ml 63

New ml istn my taste at all, just missing the extra. So basicly i will decide between cayenne turbo or x6m

One thing on the Cayenne turbo im not sure about,  is the extra power pump of 40 ps worth 20 000sfr. ( 17000 euros) Does anybody of this board have the Cayenne turbo with the extra power. What is about the sport design package. I think he looks so much better on picture with it, then with out, but haven't seen it in real life with the sport design package.

I asked about the cayenne turbo S, but the dealer didn't have a clou when he arrives or if he will be produced, are some more infos out right now. Waiting time wouldn't be to long as the pz hase some quotas for oktober, november and decemer  for a cayenne production, where i could squeeze in.. Whats about the new cayenne model, or is a facelift on its way or how long will this model be current. Just don't want a model witch will be out dated in a few months.

Is torque vectoring a must have, or is Porsche dynamic chassi controle enough for this suv

If somebody has some experience with the x6m i would appreciate it swell,  as i like both models and i am unsure witch way to go.

Price ways Cayenne turbo a little bit more expensive big difference would be the performance upgrade.

    Thanks for help

    Dario

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

i and RC bot had gen 1 cayenne turbos and i now have an x6m and RC has an x5m.

my opinion would be that you should go with the X6m.....the facelift model has just been released.

engine wise i find it better than the cayenne and i really like the novelty fact of its looks.

the current cayenne isn't the best looking car.

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

I have driven and rode in both cars, and I would go with the x6m.  Like intouch said the cayenne as least is my opinion is not a pretty car to look at.  I would go with the X6M, personally.

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

Yes, I have the X5M and performance is amazing, there is also basically no turbo lag.

I like however how the Cayenne looks (black front lights, black backlights, black painted wheels, PCCB...amazing looks) and it just feels more luxurious and looks better in the interior.

Only problem: It is possible that the 40 hp power kit is not available right now for ordering due to the titan turbocharger issues, this is something the dealer has to check out.

I like the X5M (same as X6M) a lot and it costs much less than the Cayenne but I got bored of the cheap looking interior and the exhaust/engine sound of the X5M.

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

Price wise, base price of cayenne turbo is a little bit less than x6m in switzerland. both around 160 000sfr.

No what is interesting our new c02 taxe since 01.07.  it is about 20-30 000 sfr for the x6m and a little bit less for the cayenne turbo. But porsche will take it on his charge, on the other hand bmw just till end of this year, (afterwards is not sure). on the other hand you get a discout of almost 10% with bmw, were porsche gives you maybee 6%.

i definitly would go for the performance parts for the x6m and some 21 wheels

the decision wouldnt be money wise, as they are to close. Right now i think the x6m just looks more sporty, dynamic as the cayenne, but a agree the interior on the cayenne is more up to date

i do think with some small changes the x6m looks really nice from outside (sorry found this pic in the web, if not permittet just delet it)

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

while the interior of the cayenne is top notch, i would not call a nicely specced x6m interior cheap and boring looking...

Very nice  what leather is that. Do you have some outside pictures would apriciate

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

I really like the looks of the X6, but for my girlfriend it was an absolute no go. You'll love or hate it.

I like the BMW interior, even compared to the Cayenne I wouldn't say it looks cheap, maybe a bit understated. BUT the interior of the X6 looks exactly like my previous car, a 2006 BMW 325i.

But if the Cayenne Turbo is priced the same as a X6M it's a no brainer for me.

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

X6 is fugly .. it's the result of crossing an SUV with sports car, and ending up with mutation

Cayenne is much better resolved, an SUV with some class and elegance.

cant remember the order...but if needed i can dig out my order sheet. it's beige, perforated climatized seats. if you need the exact name let me know.

exterior shots,as you see i have 2 sets of wheels. but decided to keep the standard rims on it as the black 21's look too aggresive

Thanks for the picture  nice looking car, i do think the black wheels look perfectly, but tast are different.

Did you have any issue with the car so far or all perfect

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

My X5M has now 18000 km (as far as I remember...haven't driven it for a long time...my wife uses it) and only one single problem but unfortunately a couple of times: The hose to the vacuum switch (sport exhaust) went off, disabling the sport exhaust. Technically, the X5M has been perfect, nothing to complaint about...engine...gearbox...perfect. I had a software update at some point and there was a recall regarding a cooling pump for the turbo chargers but the car has always been reliable. Oil consumption is very low (I don't even remember when I filled her up...) but fuel consumption is always in the 19 l / 100 km range if you drive mainly in the city (like my wife does). You can get 16-17 l / 100 km average when driving a lot on country roads or the Autobahn (below 180 kph though) and if you really push it hard, a fuel consumption of 22-24 l / 100 km is not uncommon.

I actually love(d) the X5M (not that much of a fan of the X6 because people over here associate the X6 as a lifestyle product but the X5 as a "work horse") but the miserable exhaust/engine sound and the sad interior actually took a lot of the fun away.

Performance-wise and handling-wise, the X5M (X6M too) is top notch, nothing to complaint here. I wish my Panamera Turbo S would have the same throttle response and lack of turbo lag.

not a single issue. then again, i have only done about 5000 kms on it.

and yes it is merino champagne.

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

My X5M now has almost 50,000 km on the odo. I can confirm all data and facts as given from RC to the full. Consumption on average, at 19.1 liters 100/km/h. The car only needed 1 liter oil at 30,000 km. The X5M is completely free of problems. I also had the software update and the recall regarding the cooling pump. It's fascinating to see how reliable a 555-hp car can be.kiss

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

A Cayenne turbo fully loaded is in my experience the best suv right now,PTV and ceramics are essential for safe and fast on road driving, the adaptive sports seats are second to none, the Burmester is imo totally better than other car high ends i have heard such as B&O and Lynn and it seems to me that it sounds better in the Cayenne than in the Panamera (?)

btw,i don't know what the x6m can do off road, the Cayenne though is fantastic off road and much much better than the previous Cayenne model, especially in the snow with (21's!) winter tires

The oil situation is as per usual Porsche aspirated motors- 1 ltr/1500 km +/-

At present my Dakara is with Ruf for a major overhaul and tech/optic updating, hopefully when completed will be better (not just faster...) than both...Smiley

ask Jeremy Clarkson about an X6 off-road....totally useless car  !!! Smiley

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

I never too my Cayenne or X5 off-road, so this doesn't really bother me. Winter performance of the X5 is amazing...with the right tires. I use 255s but in H instead of V flavor and the snow performance blows away almost all SUVs out there on the market. Especially braking on snow/ice is great.

What I always loved about the Cayenne was the air suspension. I was able to drive through very high snow, by raising the chassis.

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

Thanks for all those inputs. Great to hear no problems so fare  on the x5/6m. But i am sure to expect the same thing on the porsche side.

Off road its really not i criteria for me, but winter performance big time.

RC did you have the 20" wheels on winter tyre or 19. I would love to have at least 20" winter tyres and possible 21 performance wheels for sommer use

Tendency right now would be the x6m over the cayenne (thats mainly because i really like the outside look of the x6m), will make my mind up on my holidays, so i have a couple of days to think about

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

Dario - I agree with RC and that is why I got the Cayenne :)  the interior is superior if you spec it right.  good luck with your choice because whichever way you go - you will have regrets :)

I live in Bavaria and while it is important to me how sporty a car looks, I decided to go for maximum safety on the winter wheels, simply because my wife drives the X5 a lot and the kids are with her most of the time too.

I got 18'' with the 255's and H speed index (instead of V)...amazing winter driving performance under all driving conditions. You should have seen me in Katschberg Austria, most cars couldn't get even out of the parking lot which was slightly elevated. Smiley While 20'' or even 21'' look good, they are very counter-productive in winter time, especially when you are using wide tires. Don't forget that you have over 2.5 tons (with passengers and some luggage) to brake here and the better the tires, the earlier it comes to a stop. One or two meters difference are a lot in winter time.

    Re: Cayenne turbo or x6m

Dario, i think your choice comes down to styling. The two cars present a completely different look, and IMHO the Cayenne is a far better design.  But each to his own...

    Have fun and good luck!
