981S Spec

My order should be locked in next week and then unchangeable, hoping for September delivery. Any comments or suggestions on my spec are welcome. On top of second guessing several options while trying to show a little restraint ticking boxes, the question of color selection is now getting me. indecision It's dark blue vs aqua, haven't been able to see a 981 in person in either color.

blue hood to go with dark blue or aqua blue metallic? otherwise you will have 3 colours, blue, black and beige. might be better with blue, blue and beige

light design package? you get white LEDs in the hood and trunk too

folding mirrors? LED lights under mirrors too

brushed aluminium interior .. seen this on the Cayenne and the Panamera, very classy.

roll over bars in exterior colour?

I'm afraid I agree with sfo here, IMO you have too many colours (black, blue and beige). I'd also go with blue soft top although black would be ok and it would tie in with the black soft top if you stay with that, and either blue or black interior as at least black is a neutral colour. I love aqua, but each to their own on colour of course. I'd certainly add roll bars (which also includes the trim flaps outboard of the roll bars) in exterior colour.

Great choice having PASM, at Festival of Speed I had a long chat with two of Porsche's expert driver consultants from Silverstone and they would always advise fitting PASM to any Porsche where it is not standard.

I'd also choose the sports exhaust option. But great choice and congratulations. Smiley

Saw my first 981 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last week and was hugely impressed with the styling inside and out. Smiley

We will be driving the new Boxster later this month at Porsche's Silverstone driver experience centre, and suspect SWMBO will coming away badly wanting one...... Smiley

Thanks guys, I can't believe it happened so fast but my order status went to PLPROD (planned production) last night and is unchangeable.

This might be a good thing, I was going to make a 2 hour drive Saturday to a dealer with 3 cars in stock to look more closely at some options.

My 987S was midnight blue/sand with black roof, I think I'll like the dark blue/luxor with black roof, should be a classy combination. Dark blue/luxor looked great on the 991 launch car. I love Aqua which might actually bring out the 981's lines better than dark blue, but I have the feeling I would have been collecting a lot of speeding tickets with Aqua. indecision

Black or blue roof was a tough decision but I think black has a little more aggressive look and should work well with some of the black exterior parts.

Leaving PSE off was tough too but might do a retrofit. I kind of like the early reports of the 981S being a little reserved at low rpms and then really coming alive at 4000.

Thought this was interesting about PDK vs Manual sales, my dealer said his 991 and 981 orders have been close to even with maybe 60% of buyers going for PDK.

I don't think PSE is that important. Standard 981S exhaust is, for me, vocal enough. I had PSE on my RS60 Spyder, and yes, it was louder, and roartier. 981S sound is more mechanical, and dare I say it, more air cooled Smiley

Thanks dreamcar, I think you understand the agony I'm going through waiting for a blue P-car better than anyone. Smiley Completed production is estimated for July 27 and then as Pavel Chekov would say it's "on wessel."

Sorry to hear it has been slow getting your production date P-J. My dealer had a changeable August production car that was a unit they had coming for inventory. They originally ordered it sometime before the due date of June 25, then it got changed to my order and was placed less than a week ago. He was really surprised it went to PLPROD so fast, he guessed maybe Porsche was looking for more customer orders as opposed to inventory orders. Good luck, hope your car gets built soon it's a killer spec! Smiley

That's what I was thinking, a grimy guy like me would be a bad combination with pebble seats. Smiley I somehow did really well with the Sand leather interior in my 987S.

Haven't seen Agate/Pebble in person, but have to say if this photo accurately represents the color then I really like it. I've also seen photos where the Agate is kind of a pale grey/brown that I don't like as much.

All 981's are 2013, actually... I looked at my VIN and it shows 2013, even though the car was built in May!
