    m5 f10 first 2500km

Short feedback on my m5 f10 after 2500km

Car is used as my daily summer driver, so every day use.

Colour alpine white is probably not the best choice for stealth look, but i can drive it to some clients, without to much of  problems. Still black or grey probably would have been better for stealth look

    the pros:

almost no turbo lag, compared to the cls 63 pp or pana turbo, witch i both test drove. That is probably due to the turbos build in the V.  You hit the pedal at 2000 rpm in 4the gear and the power is right there. Surprised on that.

Power, seems to be there, vbox messured at 2200km 100-200 kmh in 7,9 secs (mods d3 and sport plus), and yes i dont have a factory press car..

Cockpit lay out, very clean and logic to me, every button were he belongs to, (compared to the pana turbo witch reminded my to the cockpit of my twin plane piper azteck, just to much buttoms to press for my taste)

head up dislpay mutch better than the old on and ajustable in hight (much better than the old m5)

Sound wise i like it, active sound i could never hear it (looks to me most people are complaining witch havent driven the car, or want to bash somehow the m5.  Happely tast are different (by the way sport auto liked the sound of the m5 also more than its competitors specialy above 5000 rpm...)

Seats and nav and stereos looks ok to me, nothing to complain there. (but i am also not the one plaining around for ages, donwloading emails etc.

    the cons

Steering feels syntectic, and somehow to hard, i am always in confort mode, sport or sportplus doesnt make sense to me.

dampers could be stiffer even in sport plus mode for my taste / start stop function, so useless / to much settings of power and stearing wheel

Short vedict, even with the cons i can recomand this car and would buy it again. Next step will be a tune, somewhere around 650 ps should be likely with ecu and better cat/exhaust.

But im mot sure if i will keep it after the ff arrives, but this desicion has nothing to do with the quality of the car, it is more related to garage place.

Feel free to ask more question if interested in the new m5Foto.JPG

Thanks for your review, I'm sure it's proving to be a fantastic daily driver!

    Congratulations.  Smiley

    What about traction issues? Smiley

Great car the M5! It looks very nice in white. Why would you want a stealth look in CH?

I would appreciate your comments on the wet weather handling and especially doing high speeds on standing water.

Thx for the report. Very interesting. Can you tell a little about your impressions under wet conditions?
Would be interesting too. Thx in advance.

    Re: m5 f10 first 2500km

Traction, i am not the kind of 0-100 racers, so honestly till now, no traction issues witch put me into troubles. But power slides/drifts, oh yeas, driving a lot Grimsel/Furka/Albula, Maloja and Bernina pass (Mountainraods up to 2500meters/sea level) and you can so easily put the car into corners on provocate nice slides, due to the big  torque curve. (mutch better than the old m5).  (But again this is fun factor, either you like it or you dont.. but i love it good fun. Ok you could say, thats maybe fun but not quik, but comon this roads are limited to 80 or 100kmh and quit often you have some radar/police controle, so the wrong place to race any way...

on the other hand on highways traction is not on issue, so to be honest i dont have any problems with that. But if 0-100 counts for you, than you must take an all whele drive car, no doubt about that.

on wet condition i had so fare highways on germany, witch isnt a problem with a 2 tonne sedan (i suppose you wouldnt run 300kmh in heavy rain, nor do i as visibility is just not enough, but 120-140 kmh wasnt a problem.( i didnt expect any thing else)

and i had rain on the mountain roads, and of cours traction control is kicking in under acceleration. But again you have to force it. If you drive as you should than you wouldnt have any issue, but if you like a few slides here and there, traction control works. But you can also take influence on it, just dont kick the pedal fully down, be a bit more gently and traction control on the wet is mutch less an issue, without beeing slower.

I dont see the car as an all year round car, probably april-oktober is his time (switzerland mountain region) and for that use it does make a lot of fun.

Would i have bought it for all year driving, no, neither for racetrack. At the end it is what it is, a heavy 4 door sedan, with  nice engine, witch can give a lot of fun

hope i could help you a little bit with my first m5 experience..

    Re: m5 f10 first 2500km

Thanks again. Yes, this is very helpful. It's even exactly what I've expected. As I mentioned a few month ago, the M5 isn't as bad as one would expect under mud and snow conditions. At this time I have had a test drive under very bad conditions in the Munich area with frozen snow and temperatures below -10 C and it works fine at least far better than one would have imagined.

Anyway, I don't think it will be the right car for snowy mountain roads that's for sure.

    Re: m5 f10 first 2500km

I actually felt that the M5 looses traction much easier at ALL times then the C63 for example...

    fastanstic car! ;)

On a sidenote, Youtube automatically loaded the following videos which I found far more interesting. You obviously start in VLN?

    Re: m5 f10 first 2500km

Great hands on write up - many thanks. I love this car, it is stealth enough and provides all you need from sporty racer up to daily family car. And the best thing, most people dont see what is underneath.

    Thanks, enjoy!
