Yes but unfortunately in Europe, we prefer not to buy classic Porsche cars from the US because of various reasons (car history sometimes unclear, salt water is also not very healthy for these cars, non-original changes/mods, etc.).
Meaning: Cars imported from the US usually achieve a much lower value than cars from Europe. This is why the auction probably mentions Bill Gates as a former owners, to increase the value of the car.

I once saw Bill Gates' 959 at Werk 1 in Zuffenhausen, he had an accident and the car had to be repaired, incl. some major restoration work too. This was years ago...

You can get the accident history of a car over here (if the accident is reported anyway). If you crash on a track there is no requirement that you need to tell the police about it. You often hear of high end cars being sold in "mint" condition that have been repaired after a serious shunt. Is there a requirement in Europe that all body repair is reported to someone?
