I have no Idea of why I can't turn the picture - but I've been driven the new Cabi S today extensively
Let me share some pros and cons ;
Spec. basically fully loaded 991 S including 20' wheels costing a whopping 186k CHF.
Pros:
Full leather - looks very very well done and far better than in a 997
interior : specially the feel of the buttons are way above a 997
PCM, interior lay-out and all dials look and feel high-end
Exhaust button : MUST HAVE - huge difference to normal mod and burbles almost AMG like - specially when you lift the throttle quickly - a huge step forward towards old systems
Appearance : WOW - I am not a fan of red - but boy does a 991 look hot in red with black 20'
Cabriolet-shape : a huge step forward
Wind-shield : with a touch of a button - clever and cool looking
Cons : (I will get a lot of bashing for this )
PDK : first of all a big improvement in gear shift speed to Gen1 - but I absolutely hated it after 20 min..... First you go 1-2-3-4 - and think wow - very fast very smooth - almost like a 458 - but better than a SLS for sure.....THEN it goes to sail-mode when you lift the throttle (downwards on a hilly road) and you think the engine has died - then you stop the car on a red light and the engine really goes out..... - so you push the Sport button or SportPlus to prevent this happening again as it freaks you out....although it starts fast again.
Now having solved that issue - you continue in SportMode (!) look at yr dial and cruising below 50 km/h (city limits) and already u are again in 4th or even higher....slightly more throttle and it shifts down a couple of gears (thank god it had SportExhaust so at least that sounded good) but 2 seconds later yr again in 5th or worse........
Entering the highway it jumps gears like no tomorrow and after 6th - there is a huge drop in RPM in 7th.....very nervous I felt.
so back to full Manual mode - NOW we're talking.....fast changing gears and a very nice wheel with great paddles. However, I catched myself doing the same as PDK constantly whipping some gears around......
So : if you use yr car daily and you hit traffic all the time - go for PDK - if you drive it for FUN - get a manual....
Driving dynamics : I have not driven the coupe - but despite PASM the car felt like a california - heavy..... - I am surely no benchmark here with the GT3RS - but driving home with my RS it was like day and night. Guy's anybody who has not driven a RS - get you're hands on one and drive it on a twisty road.....it's mindbogglingly good ....
Breaks : They felt mushy. I am sure they are not - but again no comparison to my car (weight ? )
Engine : well....see driving dynamics. on the other hand the car had only 300 km so it surely hasn't loosed up but it does not at all feel like the numbers it produces in reality. a GTS feels faster......
Bottomline : a beautiful beautiful car with a FANTASTIC quality interior - but if you're into Sportscars wait for a GT model or buy a GT2,GT3 etc. - however, I am sure it will find lots of buyers !
