I took delivery of the RS 4.0 (#585) two weeks ago and finally got around to take some pictures of it together with its garage mate, the exactly 40 years older Carrera RS. Both are absolutely sensational cars and as a small two car collection I think it is pretty close to perfection.

If you are interested in swapping the 2.7RS for BOTH a very rare Top Trumps card (see my avatar, left) and a 1:18 scale model (posted elsewhere on RT along with my story of my love affair with the car), please let me know. I will admit that the wing mirror broke off when I unpacked it and I didn't realise I'd lost it until the maid had been through the house with the vacuum cleaner, but apart from that, it's in perfect condition.
At the very least consider me in your will.
Perfection is not the right word. Car nirvana is far, far more appropriate. Hearty congratulations!

Budster: Funny! That card looks like a real gem. My car was a Porsche press car for a short while and I have a few car magazine articles testing my exact car in 1973. I have been in love with model for ages and can truly say that driving it was even above my expectations after all the hype written about it. A stroke of genius.

Porker: That is correct. It is a touring with rear seats. The car just two options: sports seats and head rests. Excellent family race car for four.

Stunning. The technical, historical and aesthetic ties between these two cars are indeed impressive. How do you use each of these two?
Ferdie: I drive them as much as possible and try use them also for my daily purposes (taking the kids to kindergarten, visiting friends, going shopping etc.). I also use/ will use them both for track days (I just got the 4.0 so the first outing is not until April). The RS 2.7 has the advantage of four seats, but both are just too nice to drive in order not to use them as much as possible. I plan on making a trip to the alps with the RS 2.7 this spring (the car has done just 130.000 km in 40 years and needs some stretching out...) and I will take the 4.0 to Nürburgring during the autumn.
Hi TurboRalf, congratulations to you your RS collection. The 2.7 RS is an amazing car and you can never appreciate it fully until you have driven one.The most fun I ever had in a car was a drive in a 2.7 RS on the Grossglockner (Austria).
I have a more modest 2.4 S which is a great car but miles behind the RS. Do you plan by chance to attend the celebration in Stuttgart for the 40 years of the RS in mid September? Regards Alex
