Cayenne Turbo Powerkit...no more ?

Apparently Porsche has deleted the Cayenne Turbo Powerkit from their option lists.

This action does not seem to be temporary I'm afraid.

It is very likely related to the issues (manufacturer issues) with the "titan" turbo chargers Porsche seems to have. Apparently these turbo chargers and/or components for it need to be built on a piece by piece basis, thus delaying the production output for these parts.

It is also possible that these issues may delay the introduction of a Cayenne Turbo S.

The other Cayenne models, incl. the regular Turbo, are not affected by these issues.

No, the 997 Turbo/S uses VTG chargers and as far as I remember, they don't have titanium compressor impellers.

No, the 997 Turbo/S uses VTG chargers and as far as I remember, they don't have titanium compressor impellers.

Perhaps the non-sportscar T/Cs are larger and hence benefit more from lighter weight titan blowers Smiley

Your Cayenne will only be king if you ordered the powerkit...which apparently you didn't, right ? Smiley Smiley

Already ordered powerkit versions will be built as far as I heard but no more new orders will be accepted.

I also got a new rumor in today: The Cayenne Turbo S may not be affected by the parts issues since it's introduction is planned for autumn or even early next year. First comes the Cayenne GTS as far as I heard.

But isn't that just 2, maybe 3 years since the last GTS..? So that would reposition the concept of the GTS as being a standard model rather than a end-of-model special..?

Of course that would make sense to me for a 911 anyway, as I think it's a great compromise between a 991S and a GT3 anyway - and I don't mean "compromise" in the standard negative sense.

The Cayenne GTS is a regular model, so is the Panamera GTS. I also heard that the success of the 997 Carrera GTS actually may result in a regular 991 Carrera GTS too.

Cayenne is considered a serious off-roader by Porsche, even the top models that come with performance road tyres and bodywork that prohibits any off roading.

The PDK was found to overheat when doing off road maneuvers and towing at low speed.

Considering the current delivery stop of Panamera Turbo S, it make take a while until a Cayenne Turbo S shows up.

Maybe with the Cayenne facelift 2014? yes
