Is it just me, or is there a serious panel gap near the headlamp on that last image?
It is an optical illusion From a certain angle it looks like a big gap, in real life it is not.

Also, thus car is stationary. The photo is edited to make it look like it's in motion. On other pictures, you can see the guys had the trunk open... its not fully closed in this picture. But yes, in certain pictures, the gap seems really big... had me fooled for a long time too.

I think you are right Joost. I remember a video where someone was closing the front boot, and it was a multi-step process to latch the extreme corners as well as the middle. If they did not fully latch that side corner that would explain it.
It stands to reason that the finish quality will be superb on this car. I was just a little surprised.

Hope this is a final test vehicle, and not a delivered car.
Those are still prototypes, panel gaps are a given. Plus as someone else mentioned, the front clam shell is a bitch to close properly.

Don't have much news other than the latest delay on a supplier problem, I am now looking at August.
As for the delay, I am still not in the clear to out it in public, I was told what happened, I am not happy but it's part of everyday business.
I have a car rally event coming up end of this month, was planning to take the 918, but since that's a no go, and McLaren had made me an offer to take my 12C instead to show case their cars. So I am taking the 12C over the Turbo S.
Earlier I made an offer to Porsche asking for a 918 press car to take to the event to help them showcase the car to potential buyers, I even volunteered to wear a 918 T-shirt and be a 918 specialist for them. No answered yet.

Sorry to hear that. The supplier issues lately seem (just a wild guess based on rumors) to be related to the involvement of VW in the whole production/parts acquisition process (speaking of Porsche generally, not the 918 particularly).
You know how many times I could have shown off Porsche products to potential high value customers? Never got an offer for a press car from Porsche, not even through Rennteam. This is how they work, very sad. Once got a job offer from Mini(!) based on the work we do here on Rennteam but I had to refuse because we are really into sports cars.

August?!!
Hang in there.
Yup, that's what they are 'aiming' for, lol.
I translated the wording into meaning between late July to next spring.
Also got turned down for a request for a 918 press car, they don't have any in Canada, those pesky Americans are hogging them. And there is nothing better than my Turbo S in their press fleet that can be loan to me. Oh well.

So sorry to hear about your delayed delivery due to suppliers too. What rally event are you attending?? I think the 918 press car idea is brilliant... maybe Porsche just doesn't know about this event..

Oh I heard about that, a whole track development by JV himself! I have a friend who's living very close to there in the South Okanagan! Porsche Canada should really get involved asap. This is a much needed facility for the entire region.

Porsche doesn't believe there are not enough moose in Canada interested in the 918.

On the outside chance that they send one to me, I will drive it up to you for the day.
Dang! I probably should not have posted that here. They will see it for sure now.
Guess my chances just dropped from absurdly infinitesimal to nil.
Oh well, at least I'm not waiting indefinitely for hope of a status change. I hope other distractions take your attention away from this debacle.

918/959 video
Comparing the 918 with the 959 actually doesn't do the 918 any justice. Actually, I expected the 991 Turbo S to be a worthy 959 successor and it may be, from a feature point of view but performance-wise, a 959 "annihilated" the competition and while the 991 Turbo S may not be in the 918 league, it should have annihilated anything close to everything which is a 991 Turbo S competitor. I am a little bit disappointed here with Porsche.
The 918 seems to be the single product from Porsche right now which is actually really competitive. Maybe the new GT3 too if we disregard the engine issue. Yes, the P1 may be a tad faster (straight-line?) but it also costs a tad more, to say at least.
