So my dealer just gave me some information on sales figures.
For Porsche Canada, they have sold 20, hoping to hit 30 as their target.
Mine will be 6th of 20 in Canada, 1st of 4 in Vancouver.
Total population of Canada is around 35mil, I guess they are trying for 1 car per just over a million then haha.

I have to admit I'm a little surprised. Then again I believe there are 5-8 Enzos in Toronto and I've seen three CGTs in the past week...

Dear…..
We are pleased to be able to give you an update on the production of your hand-built McLaren P1™.
The photo above shows your car at Station 70. The IPAS drivetrain is now in place and the team have begun installing the suspension system. The bodywork has been painted by our highly skilled team, and the rear clam will soon be fitted. From here, your car will enter the final build phase, with the fitment of the front clam and rear wing, before entering into our rigorous quality audit where we ensure your car meets the stringent McLaren standards.
Throughout the entire production process, our technicians and engineers take the highest care to ensure that every attention to detail is undertaken.
We look forward to contacting you again as your McLaren P1™progresses with its build and nears completion.
Best Regards
McLaren Automotive Inc
That, is impressive customer customer care. Especially for someone popping down over a million for a car.
Porsche seems like a punching bag, I punch it once or twice and wait for something to puke out.
On a side note, I just learned that one of the local 918 build slot has been changed hands for a tidy profit even when the car is not sold out.
nberry:
If there are 10 allocation available in Canada why would someone pay over MSRP? Getting the car sooner?
There are always people with more money than brain. As I understand the buyer is from Mainland China, those people are more concern about quickness than money.
The slot sold was a december 2014 production, Porsche is scheduling Jan/Feb 2015 production right now, so only gain about a month in time frame.
Anyway, the extra 10 cars left in Canada is not exactly public knowledge, it was know for quite some time that our local dealer sold out it's initial 3 slots, they have since added a 4th order. But some people just assumed since the initial allocations are gone they can't get anymore.
I probably could have sold my own allocation for a tiny sum as it will be the 1st one here and re-order another one. But then I would lose my car number.
Also heard that the 2 other cars will eventually be flipped, I could be the only one planning to keep such a car.

The 918 could actually hold its value over the coming years.. but the x-factor may the cost of ownership.. although Porsche is pretty good about this I would think.
I may know one of the other Vancouver allocations, but the guy is now very unsure and may try to sell... his slot i'm guessing.
