Good color. I don't see anything wrong here...
Would you get a brown Porsche then? I know I wouldn't. Never.
Well, maybe you would... (sorry...couldn't resist).

Actually I had a brown Porsche for I while....it was macadamia metallic. Me and my wife(behind the wheel) liked that color a lot. BTW a while ago someone has posted on RT a pic of 997 GT3 in macadamia with brown rims, in Stuttgart i guess...it looked amazing!

Here you go, mate.

This is the color my kids call "kaki" (from their childhood)...shit.
Have you ever seen such a color on a Ferrari or Lamborghini? I haven't.
Brown tones are horrible for a Porsche in my opinion but maybe it is just me...
Kids and maybe adults associate brown with something they could not handle right, so thats maybe the reason for unconscious negative impressions caused by this color? SNCR
Anyway .. dont want to spoil this thread with a discussion about brown. Finally an interesinting article: http://How brown became the red-hot color for new cars and trucks
Now back to topic please....

Well, if they poop it in metallic brown you should send them to television. Not sure what´s the problem with brown cars....
Not my personal favourite but surprisingly many women appear to like that colour.

Out of curiosity... that doesn´t look like Israel, does it? I just realized that yet again we drifted far away from the original topic.

It's not Israel I lived in Europe for a while. Maybe some day I'll move to Europe forever, and then I could buy a GT3 or Turbo without paying double price...

The picture were taken on the way from Dresden to Prague. I lived in Czech Republic.
There was a 918 Spyder Weissach at the pilots parade last Friday at Le Mans, in reality, the Martini livery doesn't suit the car in my opinion. It just looks a bit odd, maybe it would better on grey like the supercup 991. The black roof on white also doesn't look right, I know it's carbon fibre, but they could have painted it to match! The noise was disappoiting, the Carrera GT sounds a lot better. I like the car's proportion, it looks a lot smaller than the GT, very pretty car, almost not aggressive enough for a supercar. I think it liquid metal with the stock futuristic wheels, it will be gorgeous!
Porsche organised a test on the Bugatti track the week before, I couldn't make it but two of my mates attended and although the car was restricted to 550 hp (odd), they said you can tell it's heavy car, both are pilots and in slow corner like the Dunlop chicane, you cannot cheat physics, it's a nice car but it's also 1700 kgs.
Definitley a new breed of supercars, whether it will work or not, only time will tell, but it's a risky bet. If it doesn't work out, it will be a good car to buy second hand at half price. It doesn't look like they will make 918.
As far as I heard, they sold almost 400 cars so far (out of the planned 918).
Maybe the project was too ambitious, maybe Porsche should have used some sort of hybrid booster only in conjunction with a powerful gasoline engine. This would have made the car much lighter and very likely also less expensive. At 490k EUR a piece, they would have sold all 918.
It may be still a success story though if Porsche succeeds in beating the odds, by overcoming the current obstacles like excessive weight and the "feel" of it. The new Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires should also do the trick.
I have faith in Porsche but I wouldn't want to be the first to take the risk.

With cash cows like the Cayenne and rich parents like the VW Group, Porsche can take risks on projects like the 918. We know in the long-run this technology from this experiment will trickle down into cars we love.
I do agree that there is a risk of not meeting the hypercar hurdle, but I think Porsche knew that risk from the beginning and set out a good strategy to confront that challenge. In that they publicly walked everyone through the journey of building the most technically advanced sports car. This was a good strategy and gives Porsche an "out" against the statistics race that Mclaren and Ferrari are fighting.

I was just in Le Mans - and I saw the 918 first time live and close up......and was blown away.
Although being a white fan currently I must admit it doesn't suit the car very well - so I would definately go for a grey-ish color (liquid metal ?) but the lines the presence the size.....unbelievable cool car. The Cockpit for sure is going to be the best amongst the "3" new supercars - it looks simply fantastic. So Whoopsy - CONGRATS again well done very very good choice
I love the 918 shape too, not just because I am biased in favour of Porsche. It offers the perfect blend of the classic and the avant garde. Neither retro nor crazy sci-fi.
Now as regards weight and performance. Apparently Porsche did not want to make just another hyperfast supercar, besides the Koeningseggs and the Zondas of this world. If they wanted that they could easily do what Ferrari and McLaren did. Porsche wanted to make a technology statement even at the expense of speed, which above a certain threshold is of academic importance anyway.
Will this route sell enough 918s? It doesn't seem so. The P1 is at 50% of projections too. The LaFerrari will sell not so much as an automobile but as an investment because of the marque's traditionally strong pre-owned values in the case of their limited number models.
