Finally had the chance to take my own 918 out on a track today.
Think I properly exercised the car today:
It was a a charity event to raise money for breast cancer, they had initially arranged a Shelby GT500, a Huracan, a Corvette Z06, a McLaren 570S, and a .2 C4S to be hot laps cars, seat time sold to raise money, think it was like $50 a ride. An hour was allocated but the selling stopped with about 20 mins to go. To add some excitement, I offered up my 918 and got Kees Nierop to do the hot laps, it was sold for $500 a ride and got 4 takers to fill up the last 20 mins. All for a good cause.

Grant:That 1.0g accelerating forward is impressive! Not many cars can do that...
Just for comparison, my old 962 race car with H. J. Stuck at the controls would do 0.8g forward coming out of the International Horseshoe corner at Daytona. Second gear ... I think.

Some fresh pictures from the photographer off my track day:
This pesky RS is on my tail all day. Granted, it was driven by someone who is much more capable than me on skills.
The 918 is at where it belongs:
It has like maybe an inch of body roll in the corners, if that much.
The next 2 is driven by Kees Nierop, on our charity auction hot laps in my car.
And yes, the white sticker on my fender is a shameless plug for my track club, Area 27, which is opening this September. Our race school has just been certified by FIA.
The car is really happiest when it is unleashed on a track that's for sure. I loved it when I can unleashed my own car on a track, let it exercise, but that joy was nothing compared with other people's reactions, as in they can't believe there is actually someone who would track their 918; their reaction to the sound of the exhaust as it blast down the main straight; or the people who bid and got the hot laps in the car and came out with a big smile.
That last part, is my main point of hypercar ownership, to make as many people happy as I can. The 918 is Porsche's masterpiece, while I own it, I also want as many people to enjoy it with me as possible, I left the car unlocked at the paddock, anyone who walks by I offered up the car for them to sit in and take photographs. Most are shocked about the offer, but none declined.

You surely left behind a lot of happy people (and happy kids?).

I love those live shots . Thanks . But the track looks more like a go-cart place , I bet you can't wait for are27 !
On another scale I also like to make people happy with my RS and share it . I have taken many '' friends '' for drives in it and each time I let them drive it . Often they could not believe I would let them take the wheel ! They have been so happy after . Nearly all of them will never ever have such a car , not drive one, and only have dreamed about them , making it available to them is such a small thing for me, but a life time memory for them .

You're a great person, Nick. This is how I got to drive some wonderful cars I would never be able to afford (Bugatti Veyron, LaFerrari, etc.) because some owners are very generous and happy to share. Of course they do not let anyone drive these cars but still, I cannot say I was/am a close friend and I really enjoyed it. Kudos to you and to people like you who love cars and love to share their experiences. I mean it.

Did not know you drove the LaFerrari and the Veyron! Which car impressed you more (overall with all their differences)

When I was in Vancouver I experienced your kindness and generosity first-hand. It sure made my day and was one of the many highlights of my trip.
Don't think that these are small acts; they have a large positive effect and I am proud of the people here on Rennteam who not only love their cars, but also love sharing them with all those out there.

I have driven the Veyron Vitesse and ridden in a LaFerrari and a 918. From those experiences, I can tell you that they're vastly different cars with different goals in mind. The Vitesse is all about straightaway speed on the top end. It felt "heavy" on the corners whereas the LaFerrari/918 could just dance around those very same corners with ease. I would say that the ride quality between the three, the Vitesse felt the most compliant followed by the 918 and the LaFerrari. I have yet to drive or ride in the P1 but I have sat in all three cars and the P1 felt the most comfortable in terms of how it fit around me as a person. I will go on to say that the Vitesse felt the most opulent out of them all.
