They only had 1 in stock, and would not promise me any special treatment going forward .. they even tried to fob me off with too small a plastic bag. They produced the correct sized plastic bag when I insisted, and didn't charge for it, so I got a great deal 
It feels very planted, and glued to the display case.
Quite a heavy thing actually. I checked to see that they hadn't included batteries

Very nice but I stopped buying model cars after my son, when he was very young, destroyed my entire Porsche model car collection. I had around 20 very nice cars and he destroyed them all (ripped off doors, wings, etc.). Since that time, I haven't bought any model car for myself anymore. Two years ago, my son got himself a very rare special edition Burago Bugatti Veyron model (with every tiny detail, even in the interior) in Italy at a specialized dealer. He paid over 200 EUR for it, all the money he had saved during the year. A few months ago, he had a visit from some of his friends and while he was downstairs with some of the kids, the other kids took the Bugatti model car from the box and started playing with it. Result: Destroyed. 
Same goes to other model cars my son bought for himself over the years. Once other kids put their hands on these cars, forget about them. 
I still have two rare Porsche model cars (a 997 Turbo model from the 997 Turbo presentation in Zuffenhausen and one 991 Turbo S with the personal signature of the (at that time) 911 Turbo development boss Dr. Moessle) and I keep these car models high up on a cabinet in the living room, so no kid can actually reach them.

bridggar:I have 30+ vintage tamiya 1/10th & 1/12th RC kits from the 80s stored away in the loft in sealed boxes (at least I hope they're still sealed!)

I used to work in a shop selling them and raced them at the time..

Drag races never impressed me. There are a bunch of GT500 lovers doing drag races once a year on some deserted airfield in Germany but I never participated, only watched. At least two or more clutches smoke off into Nirvana during this event, so no thanks. Fun watching it though.

Without winter tires, the 918 is not really a car one should drive in winter time at low temperatures, especially when the road is wet and/or slippery. Not even sure there are approved winter tires for this car.

My mistake re: premium. Sothebys did say that was the high estimate though.
I have to say, in White it's not nearly as striking. Black and Blue are the colours that seem to work best. Though I have to admit I do like this one a lot as well...

White and regular silver are boring, black hides the lines. That might be why they are so popular, LOL.
Red and light blue are tricky. Dark blue is almost like black. Havent seen a yellow one.
That green is surprisingly really nice and fits the hybrid theme.
In the end liquid metal is probably the winner...

I"m not a huge fan of yellow on it. Same goes for the bright greens.
Blues just show it off well. I agree the liquid blue will probably be looked on as the best colour in 20 years. But I still like the dark one best.

Lovely in dark blue, definitely one of the best if not the best color for the 918. Also I personally love to see pics of the car with the wing down, such a beautiful silhouette, this pic for example, perfection.
