Now thats mean Rossi Smiley  The front proportions seem to be perfect judging from the way the front fenders curve up through the lights and following the line of the side sill on the door. Also the mirrors must be set pretty far back since you cant even see a hint of them near the A pillar.

Re: New V12 sports car for Geneva, Record financial results.

The email Ferrari sent out stated it will be introduced Feb. 29th. Interestingly, they indicated that it will be most powerful Ferrari ever but never indicated whether it will be the fastest.

    REALZEUS:

You can always take the bus if you can't manage. Smiley Just pulling your leg. Truth be told, extreme supercars and hypercars are meant for talented drivers and not for use in attrocious weather conditions. The magic of purity, even though the electronics would save the day in the end unbless one is talented and brave enough, or stupid enough, to switch them off! Porsche does the same thing with its RS cars; they are not meant as daily drivers. Ferrari has the FF for the ski-goers anyway, even though I disagree with that decision. The power numbers are still on the air, but I believe they will be even higher than those mentioned.

All we need to do now is wait till the 29th in order to find out the details of the "new 599".

    FERRARI RULES!!!

The bus I take has 480hp, awd, can do 191mph, seats 4, drivable in all weather conditions with minimum performance loss

On a side note, I am contemplating a car purchase, totally un-drivable 80% of the time here where I live, but sometimes common sense doesn't take over. It's one of my dream cars ever and it's even a Ferrari, a 599. Had to settle for the Ferrari as the 959 is not available smiley

Don't have the connection to buy a Ferrari brand new, don't want to wait 2+ years for a car, don't want to be taken advantaged by someone charging me above retail,  don't want to take the monstrous hit on depreciation on a new V12 Ferrari. Now the the replacement is almost here existing 599 are being dumped back onto the market relatively cheap.

WOW, that is nice looking. Why would anyone buy a FF if this is available? AWD?

Re: New V12 sports car for Geneva, Record financial results.

It is not a four seater?

Re: New V12 sports car for Geneva, Record financial results.

FF is the 4 seater, the 599 replacement is and should still be a 2 seater per tradition.

    It's ALWAYS exactly this question, when Ferrari presents their V12 sportscar (620, 599, 575, 550) after they have shown their V12 GT-car (FF, 612, 456M, 456).

And this is ALWAYS the correct answer: Smiley

In the past Ferrari designs combined powerful presence  with simple elegance in a timeless way. Perfect flowing lines that could be admired at any era.

The more recent ones try to be imposing with many elements of ephemeral styling modernity but at the same time they look rather clumsy, over-styled and busy. I think Mercedes are going along  the same route too.

Compare the 308/328 series and 355  with the F430 and 458

or the Daytona, 550 and 599 with the FF and now this new model Smiley

    AWD?

Of course not! This is a proper supercar, unlike the FF! Smiley

The actual car looks very close to that sketch even though there are some differences, i.e. at the rear air intakes. Personally I find it fantastic, as most new Ferraris, apart from that abomination the F2012 (not really into this competition, just making a joke) and the FF.

Could that be 1525 kg and 1:23s Fiorano lap time? Smiley As for the power, I have been told 750 CV, which would be about 740 BHP, so our sources seem to be in agreement.

1.525 kg (note: dry weight), 740 hp, Vmax at least 340 kph. These numbers seem to be fact.

Still, it's a very good weight for a big GT and with that kind of power, you don't wan't a car that's too light, otherwise it becomes a handful (with driver's aids off).

I just hate it when car manufacturers quote dry weight figures, it's pointless for us drivers.

A car needs petrol, oil and plenty of other liquids to run, why fool us with dry weights?

That's why I used bold letters. Smiley

Anyway, it'll be a fast car.

Re: New V12 sports car for Geneva, Record financial results.

I regard dry weight (perhaps with oil and cooling liquid added) as the real weight of the car. The arbitrary addition of fuel (how much and why that much and not more or less?), driver weight (how do they know how much I weigh?) and luggage (what the fuck???!!!) is laughable! A car weighs as much as it weighs! Whatever extra is up to the owner and you cannot make valid comparissons using curb weight!

Re: New V12 sports car for Geneva, Record financial results.

It's not that important how accurate the stated weight is to the true real weight. What's more important for us is that all manufacturers use the same weight calculation method so we can compare different cars precisely.

    Exatly!

Anyways, all car manufacturers cheat with the weight figures, one way or another.

That's why the there is an ISO (International Standards Organisation) specification for the weights to be quoted for vehicles.

I agree to a certain extent. Only problem in case of Ferrari is, that their dry weight figures should be callex extremely dry weight figures. (Modis code EDWF) Smiley

The problem is that all Ferraris are always massively more heavy than you would think after reading about the dry weight. Ferrari has a tradition of understating weight figures.

Very funny... Aventador, Gallardo, 997TT - all are no "proper" sportscars based on your "concept" Smiley

Re: New V12 sports car for Geneva, Record financial results.

They are sportscars, just not as hardcore or thoroughbred as some others. As for weight figures, the performance stats of Ferraris are startling and the GTO was measured at 1726 kg by QR with driver, fuel and everything onboard. A weight figure that is not too shabby for a big V12, given than the lithesome GT3 RS 4.0 was weighed at 1488 kg and the Aventador at 1897 kilos!
