So-so name IMO. I preferred Cajun :)
Obvious question ... how is this name pronounced?
ma-kan?
ma-san?
maa-kan?
maa-san?
ma-kaan?
ma-saan?
etc
BTW the word ma-kaan in Arabic means 'home' :)

Well the sketch is gorgeous but that name is going to get it in the deep here in DR. "la macaron" is a slang for "you completely screwed that up" and its ussually shortened to "la macan" so in dominican the new porsche is kind of calling itself a failure. That aside i'm sure it'll be an excellent car, and judging by the huge amount of Cayennes rolling through town I expect it to sell very well.
Some information from CAR magazine:
Four-wheel drive will be standard, double-clutch gearboxes will sport seven speeds, and these are the expected engine options, with a little more power like-for-like than the Audi Q5:
• 2.0 TFSI 4-cyl, 237bhp/258lb ft
• 3.0 TFSI V6, 288bhp/295lb ft
• 2.0 TDI 4-cyl, 187bhp/258lb ft
• 3.0 TDI V6, 261bhp/369lb ft
A Macan Turbo S is also in the works, with Porsche's own twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 rated at 345bhp, and there's a Macan Hybrid too, with the Q5's 208 bhp 2.0 TFSI and electric motor set-up. Pricing for Macan is expected to exceed the Q5 by about 15%.

As far as I heard, there will be only four engines available and more could come on the way if the Macan is a success:
Macan
Macan S
Macan Turbo
Macan Diesel

I presume all engines will be turbocharged, from Audi.
So the Macan Turbo will be a high pressure turbo version of the 3.0 TFSI? The Diesel will use the 3.0 TDI or we'll get a 2.0 Diesel and a 3.0 Diesel S? Any information?

I wonder if it will be sold in Scotland as the McCann?
Macan is also a name in Serbo-croatian
Macan actually means "Big" male cat(some women here use a Macan nickname for description of handsome/sexy man) in Croatian or Serbian. I think that Macan wont be very popular in ex-yu countries, specially for women costumers...
BTW, same problem here for Ford Kuga. Kuga means plague locally...

Unless the market already has a meaning for this name, I find this model designation to be very strong. Macan is a word unrelated to anything else for me, the closest I could get was "Macca" for the well-known Britsh sportscar company...
Not judging the car by the concept sketch, this is way too early to see this as being relevant. Furthermore there are not many striking details that give away anything, apart from the fact that it will feature a slightly sleeker silhouette than the Cayenne.
