If the 911 has had 7 generations, does that mean they are splitting the actual 911 (901) model into 2 groups (since there are only 6 numerical groups: 911, 964, 993, 996, 997, and 991)? Where have they split it? If it's at 1973 (long hood vs. short hood impact-bumper), I can't think of many who think the 74 is superior than the 73.
And there is strong case to be made that the 964 is a lesser car than the 3.2 Carrera as well and MOST Porsche enthusiasts would have a hard time accepting the notion that the 996 is superior to the 993 (just check resale prices).
