Wonderbar:
Any comments on this video? I was surprised that RS8 bested the new 991, for example, in the 0-60 sprint...
991 S is slower (0-60 mph), that as to do with the fact that the R8 is 4WD (better traction on launch). But on the 0-100mph 991 S is better, wich i think is better for the 991 S(he catches the R8). Even in the Ski pad the 991 (with RWD) is better. Also the brakes are better (in the 991 S).
Also, the 991S was a manual (PDK will be quicker off the line):

BTW, that braking test has more to do with the tires, weight distribution, and ABS software than the brakes (a single panic stop tells you very little about the overall braking system). Any car of this caliber has brakes that are strong enough to lock the tires and engage ABS (on the first stop).
Also, another diss on the steering feel, "Steering weight comes and goes with front grip level, but the graininess/feel is no longer there."

My dealer called me inviting me for the official presentation and test drive on 1th December in Algarve but I wont be able to go, only 7000Km distance and professional meetings could prevent me from being present at such event. He was two days ago in Sevilha circuit testing the car and liked it very much.. Only bad remarque he made was the rear space seats, the roof is too low making the head space almost zero for a mid adult, he said it has less space than 997, apart from that, perfect

Actually this is very interesting fact. I was convinced that space on rear seats is enlarged because 991 is 100 mm longer than 997. Roof space is expected, because roof line is lower for 10 mm.

I don't think the cabin is really shorter by 10mm - the height of the car is lower, since the whole car sits lower on its suspension by 10mm and they shortened the overhangs (so entering and exiting driveways won't be harder).
Maybe headroom is worse, because the rear seat is further back in the body where the roof is getting lower (due to the shape of the car)?

Indeed, if you look at the side profile, the roofline is lower in the 991 compared to the 997, its flatter and slopes downquicker towards the rear, whereas in the 997 is more rounded, more humped. I think this is the reason for the lower head room.

I like the trade off. The lower roof line is worth it, as I would never stick an adult--mid size or not--in the back of any 911 variant.. Moreover, I think Porsche should offer a "rear seat delete" option and an attractive rear compartment storage area with a Panamera like retractable cover...

They have - but with the emphasis on driving over shopping, they're using the extra space to pull the engine forward a bit more than the 100mm on the standard 991, and, with tradition in mind, they're going to keep calling it the Cayman.

On 991 , engine is not pulled forward for 100 mm - only wheelbase is extended for 100mm
Looks really great in black

Anyone who knows if there are any reports/reviews of cars equipped with SPASM? Seems like none of the press cars are equipped with this ... The only one i've seen so far is the one tested by Sport Auto. Anything mentioned about this in the article? My german knowledge is quite basic

Tonight was the 60th Anniversary celebration gala dinner of the existence of Porsche in Australia. I was there for this event. They recounted how Norman Hamilton (first Porsche importer here) loaned money to Porsche to engineer and build the first RHD Porsche ever after a handshake deal between him and Ferry Porsche, and had that shipped to Australia and in true spirit of Porsche, promptly was involved in some racing activities. That is how Porsche started here in Australia as some may already know.
Appropriately (and I was surprised by this), tonight was also the worldwide unveiling of a RHD 991! I like the car, spent much time looking at it and sat inside of it. The rear seat room is definitely better than before, but not by much at all. Here are some pics.
