My guess is that the doors will not look that extreme, but I can't really figure out whether there is a lot of camo on it still.
If you take a good look at the mule, you can see some sort of design feature halfway the lower edge of the door curving inward. So, it might have some sort of recess in the door in the end.

Here's one interpretation of how the doors could look on the 2012 Porsche Cayman compared to the test mule...
I don't think anybody would buy a 991 if the Cayman would look like this..

2013 Porsche Cayman spy video...
"In just a month’s time Porsche is set to take the wraps off its brand new “991” series 911, but shortly after the automaker from Stuttgart will also introduce new-generations of the Boxster and its Cayman sibling.
Like most models in Porsche’s lineup, the Boxster and Cayman are only due for some minor styling revisions, but under the skin things will be revamped completely.
Here we have a video of a prototype for the new Porsche Cayman as it runs up some test miles on the Nurburgring race track in Germany, and on some of the surrounding roads.
One of the biggest changes for the Boxster and Cayman will be the introduction of turbocharged four-cylinder engines in place of the naturally aspirated six-cylinder units found in the outgoing models. Nevertheless, peak output from the smaller engines should match the horsepower figures of the ones they replace.
Look for a reveal of the new Cayman in the second half of next year. Until then, enjoy this exclusive spy video..."

Using foam (oder whatever it is) inside the wheel-arches is excellent! Simple but effective.
Maybe a stupid question but what would that be good for?
To measure the clearance between the tire and the different points inside the wheelwell, under dynamic suspension loading. E.g., imagine hitting a nasty bump while cornering close to the limit; suspension components (arms, bushings), the structure at the mounting points, wheel and tire, all of these deflect under load; all of this would be difficult to model and simulate accurately. With the foam liners, the tire will rub against the soft foam and the latter will quickly wear out; whatever foam thickness is left is an indication of the minimum clearance.

Thanks Boxster Coupe GTS. Interesting to see the 981 Cayman mule has the bumperettes on rear bumper. Recent Pics of 981 Boxster S doesn't have them. I hope they are just camouflage.

Aren't they a requirement for American cars? I agree, they are gastly...

The new US-spec Porsche 991 no longer has external bumperettes and the 2012 Porsche Boxster has been spotted testing without them...
...so there's hope that the new Porsche Cayman will look good!
