    2012 Cayenne GTS

Any news or rumours regarding the new GTS ?

Any news on a factory sport body kit for TTS ?

Nothing so far man, I've been waiting too, prefer GTS to TT or S, perfect mix. I'm sure they'll be one but cant say when

    Cheers

Turbo S should be available latest end of 2011 or early 2012.

Not sure about the GTS though, haven't heard much (or actually anything) about it.

As far as I remember (haven't had the time to look it up though), a sport exhaust isn't available yet for the Turbo but Porsche seems to be working on one. Rumored availability: spring 2011. Sound is very similar to the Panamera Turbo sport exhaust, with a slightly deeper tone in the lower/mid rev range.

there is a sport exhaust for the S, is that one not compatible for Turbo?

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

It seems to me that  GTS is a model that Porsche releases after Facelift and at the close End of the Model Cycle, to push the sales to the maximum possible. Its a special offer (for what you get) in a great package. As Seen on the Cayenne 1 and on the current 997.

So following that strategy, dont expect to see GTS in the next 3-4 years. And than the GTS question will arrise again, why to buy a new Car, when you know that in 2 years the successor will come?!

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

It's true what they say Avoe.el gts & turbo s are models that always hit the market when it is anticipated a new model cayenne.
    Why not sell now?
I think it is a wrong decision by porsche

Nope, nothing on my part. I just heard that the Turbo S is coming but no date or year.

The GTS would be a logical conclusion but I haven't heard anything so far. This doesn't mean much, Porsche is quite secretive right now because of the various changes and new possible products. I'm trying to get a little bit past that secrecy but it ain't easy. I don't want to put anyones job in jeopardy.

Since they already introduce the Panamera Turbo S, i guess the same will happened with the Cayenne (not 100% sure)

The Power Kit (40 hp) for the Cayenne Turbo is no longer available too.

So i`m predikting end this year or 1st quarter 2012... i hope so since i`m very "curious" about this car Smiley

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

Spoke to my dealer today who said that the Cayenne GTS will be available in Germany from April.

Guess it will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2012.

Looking forward to getting more details... :-)

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

Will it be offered with manual again?

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

No idea, but given that Porsche went through the effort of developing a 7 gear manual for the 911, who knows they might do the same for the Cayenne...

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

    Stick Cayenne would be slick!!

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

As a side note: The Cayenne Turbo Powerkit is available, there was apparently some short period in summer when it wasn't.

Regarding the Cayenne GTS: It is coming, this is 100%. Power output should be in the 420 to 440 hp range. Don't expect any substantial weight reductions vs. the Cayenne S though.

Expected availability is spring 2012, this is all I know.

Not sure about manual but does it really make sense to offer manual in a SUV ? Personally, I doubt it. The Tiptronic has a very capable manual mode but I would rather like to see PDK in the GTS than a manual transmission.

The Cayenne is a very nice daily commuter and/or family truck but this is no sports car and the GTS won't change that. If you want something quick, get the Cayenne Turbo Powerkit. There is no substitute for that, even if the GTS may feel a little bit sportier.

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

    If this is a new trend - introducing a GTS mid-cycle - then perhaps it's something they'll do for the 911 too - i.e. a wide-body C2 - even if that's all it was, and even if it wasn't an end-of-cycle "bargain"...

RC - you once mentioned this as something you'd heard about too, but you've remained tight-lipped ever since, despite being asked a couple of times for an update from a couple of us.  We'd love to hear an update on this...devil

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

Cayenne Turbo S and GTS - what model will be introduced earlier? I doubt there will be 2 simultaneously

Ok, thanks RC! I thought (maybe because of that you mentined) it was no longer available.

I'm not sure but I think I already mentioned that Porsche plans a 991 GTS too and apparently not at the end of the lifecycle. This is all I know, sorry.

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

Would be great to replace the 997 GTS with 991 GTS.

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

    Bitko:

Would be great to replace the 997 GTS with 991 GTS.

The only reason I got a 997 Carrera GTS was the lease deal I got. I really love my Carrera GTS (with the exception of those crappy Pirelli PZero tires) but I actually wanted a 997 Turbo S when I entered the dealership. The money I saved was huge (30000 EUR in downpayment and 300 EUR in monthly lease cost and I am able to end the contract after only 18 months) but I kind of regret it (a little bit). Luckily, I can choose another Porsche in 11 months. Smiley I did that because I wanted to leave me a loophole open, just in case the 991 turns out to be much better than I actually knew at that time. The 991 turned out exactly how I expected it, so it is time to take a final decision on my next 3-4 years lease car. Since the 991 doesn't seem to be better in the rear seat department, I will very likely choose the Cayenne Turbo with powerkit instead. It is sad, I know, I love the 911 but I have no choice. No more garage queens for me, I can't afford it.

The 997 Carrera GTS was an excellent offer from Porsche but that doesn't mean I would get now a 991 Carrera GTS. It is very likely that the new 991 Carrera GTS will not be the fantastic offer the 997 Carrera GTS was. Still...the GTS models are the right models for those who don't want to spend extreme money for an extreme car (GT3 or Turbo) but those who still want to get the sportiest setup for their money. Look at the current Panamera GTS, which is an excellent offer for somebody who would be interested in a Panamera 4S. The GTS is the much better deal in my opinion.

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

RC - I've been following your many posts about your next car, and you've explained your decision making in great detail, an clearly the 911 isn't an option.

I just can't help thinking you should forget the nosy neighbors and go for the Panamera instead of the Cayenne, if that's the only (?) reason why you wouldn't take it. You don't seem to be the type of person who would really lose much sleep about a the odd mutter from a couple of people who have nothing better to do..?

The Panamera would surely offer a more spirited driving experience than the equivalent (GTS vs. GTS or Turbo vs. Turbo, and Euro for Euro) Cayenne..?

I agree. I see a Panamera in person properly for the first time and WOW, I loved it, It was the diesel too Smiley. The comfort was amazing.

RC, you have the same problem as me, I need the space too but want the utmost performance. Had a look at the Nissan GTR but the leg room was tight in the rear with a tiny window, the son would get fed up with that.

I should be more selfish I suppose. Smiley..

    Re: 2012 Cayenne GTS

Mmm...can I ask a simple (or perhaps even stupid) question, on the back of these discussions about a 911 not being a "practical" alternative due to space constraints?  If one's wife is already driving a family car, e.g. a Cayenne, X5, Q7 or whatever, why would it be impractical and/or selfish to buy a 911 for oneself?  Surely, it is not necessary to have two "family cars" in one family - or am I missing something?  SmileySmiley
