New Stand 21 Helmet

I don't track a lot but one thing I learned very quickly is how important a properly fitting helmet affects the ability to concentrate and enjoy the experience. I just had a custom helmet done by Stand 21 and I thought I share a couple of photos will my fellow Rennteam members. I'm sure this company is familiar to those of you who live in Europe as they are based in France. My new helmet fits extremely well and they formed the cheek pads so that I can wear my sunglasses comfortably. I chose an open face design since our local events are very low key and non-competitive, and it is more comfortable for me to wear. They were able to match the birch green color of my .2 C2S very closely and the quality of the finish is superb.

Very nice ! They are located in Dijon, not far from the track . Each time I go , I have a little stop there . Last time I ordered some custom racing boots .

I still use an old motorbike helmet when I track my car . It is very comfortable and I just can't separate from it , even tough I probably would now need a new one .

Ah yes, Stand21 open face is one of the most comfortable helmets, the interchangeable pads inside really can fine tune how it fits.

Probably better ones for the bike, no ? Hitting the concrete floor after being ejected from a motorbike is surely a stronger impact then hitting the air bag Smiley

I run with an open face helmet too. Many people scold me that it is unsafe, but the much greater visibility adds some safety back for me...

One time I was at a driving course and some people brought their bike helmets, they weren't allowed and had to rent proper car helmets.

I haven't really looked into it much though.

Very nice helmet and no doubt that Stand21 makes some quality stuff. I have moved away a little from their products, but all underwear and balaclavas in my bag is Stand21.

Since I was a kid and did karting I have always had full face, so for some reason I have never had the open face, even though I mostly drive closed cars.

Someone once commented to me on the bike helmet fireproofing "if the inside of your helmet is on fire you have bigger issues..."

I love stand21 nomex but have never had one of their helmets. I will probably replace my carbon HJC with a stilo when the time comes through I do love the HJC.

That is a lovely looking helmet, DaveC. I wondered how the combination of HANS and open-face works, but I guess it is just that in an accident, your head is tipped forward a lot and so is forced into the top of the helmet rather than the front..

Your Stilo also looks great, tso. I'm in the market for a new helmet and HANS and loved the look of the Stilo ones. I tried a few in a shop though and the Arai still seemed to fit me best. My ears got caught up in all the others yes

Thanks DaveG.

I was also having Arai before and the fit was good. For me the fit of the Stilo is 99% of the Arai, so not really a compromise there, but the Stilo offered better weight and the intercom I needed. You might want to consider the Stilo with the SPARE REMOVABLE EARMUFFS.

I tried the Stilo but they do not fit me. Same with the Arai. Shoei fit me well and i have always worn those.

Stilo fits is always tight, I went one size up on my Stilo from my normal size in Stand21 helmets.

Loved the built in intercom in my Stilo, don't have to use the stupid ear piece that doesn't want to stay in place.

But then again my Stand21 helmets have been customized with different insert paddings and they fit great also.
