    Yes Sir, these are the guys. If I remember right Anders have now run 3 races at the NBR and this is their first season with the Clio, so they are still learning.

    I am not aware if you will participate in the 24 hrs next week, but they will bring a nice surprise in terms of, should we say a VERY experienced driver.

    No, unfortunately no 24h this year. I did it back in 2005, and I hope to do it again in the future...

    About Anders & co: yes, it takes some time to get used to racing at the Ring. I wish 'em a great 24h adventure! A surprise driver? A danish one?

    Thanks. The guest driver is Johnny O’Connell, USA. I believe he is still Corvette factory driver.

    You're gonna drive in the RCN series? Excellent! kiss Now you have to tell us more: what kind of car? The whole season? Aiming at VLN next?

    BTW: I set my new best on the very last lap of the last 4h race, after having spent over 4h30 in that bucket seat (yep, I drive solo this season).

    Definitely, yep!
    In 2011, I managed to do 6 VLN races: 5x 4h races alone and 1x 6h race with the help of guy from my team (Ring Racing).
    Dunno yet exactly how next year will look like, but I'll be there.

    I absolutely love looking at the pics and videos of your racing Clio. Why? Because I've just bought a Clio RS 200 Cup as a fun daily driver. What a blast this little pocket rocket is!

    I'm intrigued about something though. You mentioned in an earlier post that your car is stock other than race ABS and slightly wider tyres (and, of course, you have a sequential gearbox). Your Clio certainly doesn't sound stock, however - so I'm curious about what you've done to the engine to make it sound like a racer?

    Anyway, your Ring videos have inspired me to get my Clio on a racetrack as soon as possible! I'm in awe of your ability to sustain this level of intense concentration for 4 hours - I don't think I could manage more than 30 minutes. Best of luck for next season.

    @PureBlue: My Clio Cup hasn't much to do with the road-legal version. In fact, the road-legal 'Cup' is only called that way in the UK and (obviously) South Africa. The original name actually is just Clio RS, and the race-car Cup is sharing only 60% of the parts with the road-going version. The engine is purely stock, though.

    Thanks for the info.  The Cup designation for the road-legal car is to distinguish it from the standard RS Clio which has the 'Sport' suspension, as opposed to the firmer (and sportier) 'Cup' suspension.  I didn't realise that there was also a Clio Cup built specifically for competition purposes.

    But your Cup would still be great fun on a track! Obviously not exactly the same as the 911, but it'll force you to carry more speed into the corners if you want to be fast. With the 911, it's too easy: if you're too slow in the turns, you then just push the throttle down at the exit, and off you go. With the Clio and its low power and torque, you really have to push it. ;-)

    The Cup model of the road-going Clio is also available in other countries, e.g. Germany, and should come with the same low-key spec and trim. Brandnew it starts below 20 thousand Euros and for that price there might not be many superior cars around.

    I love the "somewhat" efficient and economical type of racing that Cup cars such as the Clio as well as the 997 Carrera or Civic Type-R feature as the performance comes down to the driver and less so to the car. Admittedly, as Pierre pointed out above, not so many Clios are that equal anymore.

    BTW - I dont know where to put this (and I dont yet have enouhg information to warrant a new thread), but Manthey will be leaving the VLN (and 24H Nurburgring) as of next eyar. Rumours have it that he will be the "official" Porsche team in the WEC.

    Indeed, they will be leaving out VLN and 24h race but only with the RSR. According to Manthey, they still provide cars for paying customers. I assume he is still angry about the BoP (Balance of Performance) but I am truly surprised that Porsche will not even present the GT3 Hybrid next year. I guess there is quite a bit going on behind curtains...

    Some rumors going around that the 2012 RSR will be quite "different" to the current car. (This is just a rumor and quite frankly I am having a hard time believing it, but...).

    Word from Chris Harris is that there will be no Manthey GT3 -R  as Olaf is fed up with the BoP being so stacked against the car.

     Official statement on Manthey's homepage is that they are searching for a suitable platform in international motorsport.

    I have no doubt that there is a lot of politics going on behind the stage.

    I'm sure, but I think he is out for sure. The "rules" will apparenlty  benefit larger engines (Audi R8, SLS and particular Z4M).

    Hopefully we will see Olaf and the boys in the WEC next year.
