Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

What a stroke of luck and a really great week. I started off wondering what all the fuss was about with the 997. After a week and a bit I still have a 997 loan car while my 987 Boxster awaits some warranty parts. It's been a great experience and as long as the Boxster comes back in one piece, an experience I have really enjoyed.

I've done 700 miles now in 7 days! The garage have been great about it - my other half and I had some travel plans around Scotland and the 997 fitted in perfectly. I have grown to really love this car and I'm starting to have bad thoughts about not giving it back Some final pics below - hope you don't mind the numerous images, just it's been so much fun I wanted to share...

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

    Top-class photos....you must be a pro photographer...some questions please:

Are you using a wide-angle lense?

    Are you using a polarizer?

    Time to raid yer sporran!

Seems like you've fallen for the 997 and perhaps need to check to see if you have any spare in your sporran. What does "'er in doors" think about a 997?

BTW the pics are absolutely fantastic - but you should know that already from all the previous comments.

Re: Time to raid yer sporran!

Oxonian - yes a Sigma ultra-wide angle lens for the Canon 350 and all shot clean and colours brought out in photoshop. A number 82 filter applied to the wide shot of the 911 (second pic)

Le Chef - Thanks for the nice comments! The other half likes the 997 - cant tell the difference between that and the Boxster though. She's driven both and is quite happy to get one! Big price difference though. It will be intertesting to see how I feel getting back into the Box!

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

You missed your calling Steve! Pictures are magnificent. Now, your decision on the 997?

Re: Time to raid yer sporran!

I want one! I totally love the car. I would be happy with either the C2 or C2S. My plan now is to buy one in two to three years. I would choose either Midnight/Black, Basalt/Black or GT/Black I think, only as Seal will be no more!

Although there is no soft-top, I feel the car is just such an amazing machine to drive I could live without the soft top - it's not all that practical in Scotland either!

Having done 700 miles so far this week, I still want to drive it more!

It's been to Roslyn Chapel, St Andrews, Tantallon Castle, numerous beaches and country roads and even an 80 mile round trip to an amazing little seafood restaurant in a tiny harbour in St Monans, Scotland. I just want to drive, drive, drive it - even moreso than the Boxster which is saying a lot! Maybe they will let me keep it

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

Sounds like you made your decision. It is quite the machine. I have the C2S in Seal and was thinking about Atlas/Terracotta next time around, but your suggestion of GT/Black is more interesting.
After reading about your road trip, I think I'll take the long way home tonight.........again. Good luck

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

    Steve,

I can only echo what everyone else has been saying: The photos are outstanding, as are the settings and the subject matter.

I've thoroughly enjoyed each one of your installments and as a direct result, I must blame you for causing me to waste time during the past week on the Porsche configurator playing with different midnight blue options.

    Thanks!

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

Thanks mate, that's very kind! I'm just glad people don't mind me posting!

Now where is that colour chart for my dream 997...

Steve, I had been following your posts thoughout the week and thought that you may have been in "danger" of wanting one

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

Well...I just swapped from a Boxster S to a 997 C2 Cab. I got an ex-demo car - 7K miles - 10 months old with lots of options for Pounds10,000 under the list price.

The advantage is that the car has taken the initial depreciation hit.

I put down 10K deposit (including equity in Boxster) and I am only now paying the same per month as I was for my Boxster S.

I got the car from a company who bought it from the OPC but it was supplied direct from Porsche at Pounds3,000 less than Porsche had it on the forecourt and they gave me Pounds2,000 more for my Boxster than Porsche would.

So Steve it may be possible !

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

That sounds pretty good. I've got the 2.7 Boxster and it seems to retain it's value pretty well - I'd been given Pounds4k less than list trade-in offers. The 911 C2 is just pretty much the perfect car for me. Cab would be good though....

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

Steve R, what color blue is that 997? Labis or midnight

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!

Re: Still here and very dirty! Final 997 pics!
