My overall impression: as a product, the end result is extraordinary. The curves, the detailed interior, the luxurious environment.... But when I go from my Carrera 3.2 to my 997 I still feel "at home". This is no longer the case, unless one comes from the Panamera.

At the end, once we drive it we will get in love. No question about that, but I feel the romantic 911 design appeal is somehow lost. i will eventually buy one, just wanted to share that in the evolution there is something that will never come back. This also happened with the 996, but somehow the 997 managed to recapture.

And as usual with each generation change: is it worth paying so much money to upgrade from a 997 Carrera to a 991? Or shall we wait to the more sophisticated versions?. Money not being an issue, I'd buy one in a second!

To be very honest, I do not see a big increase in attention to detail. Some solutions on the 991 are better than on the 997 but there are some things that I have to get my around and I am curious whether I will change my opinion in the end. The leather surround for the airvents, judging by the above picture, does only cover the outer frame and not the entire housing. Not bad but not necessarily the best solution either.

Interesting consideration whether the 991 has lost the typical feeling of previous 911s. I personally don´t think so, the car is still the typical dish with a different twist. I have sat in the interior and enjoyed it a lot, the 997 in comparison is indeed less luxurious but does this seriously have to be a bad thing? That´s certainly something that certain options (trim panels, bucket seats) will change easily if necessary.

The rear seat space is slightly larger in legroom (from a kid standpoint). The rear cargo is bigger, but the headroom is not improved.

Here is the original link. Sounds like normal (P zero?) to me.

This article confirmed 7:40 (I thought it was 7:38?) for C2S, normal tyres, PDCC and -20mm sport PASM. No mention of PCCB.

This IS NOT an official time. August Alchneiter NEVER SAID the 991 can do a 7:40. He said its "as fast as" a GT3. He never gave the time 7:40.
However, in an interview with Car & Driver, he gave a specific time of 7:37.

So 7:37 is the official time.

That vid you posted was terrific. First time I've seen the rear lights, lit up. Smiley The rear of the car is the best part imo. Amazing looking.. Even the front lights look better than in 1st pics... If it drives as good as it looks think this car will be a huge success.

Thanks Boxter Coupe, for embedding the video and for the 2 new ones. This car looks much better in videos than in still shots, and theres a lot of small interesting details that make the overall look so great.

I just dug out an old article and the three times stated (8:04 min, 7:50 min and 7:37 min) are for std. Carrera, std. Carrera S and Carrera S with all performance-enhancing options.

Greg, I seriously hates quoting you, so much stuff to delete first, seems like your sig is getting bigger :)

I think US and Canada would have around the same launch dates, my dealer estimate the Turbo comes 2013 in year and not model year, figures they launch the Cab a year after so that would makes it 2014.

7:37 is an amazing time. What will 991 GT3 be capable of? 7:25? 7:30?
And new Turbo and GT2 will be also very very fast on the Ring.

My prediction for GT2 is 7:20))

To be honest, but for the convoy I am not so sure I would have recognized it was a 991.
