Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

    Hi Christian,

Well, the times mentioned by Mr Achleitner on the 991 are (for the Nürburgring):

    991 standard: 8:05

991S : 7:50..with a best test lap of 7:40..but this is not a confirmed lap..

So, tell me where you see 10sec difference to a 997.2 S (may I remind you it did the ring in 7:50, sport chassis and PDK?

    Any explantion?Smiley

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

That was explained to you over a month ago...

997.2 CS 7.50min Sport Auto-car equiped with Cup tires, SPASM, PCCBs.

991 CS with Standard tires and normal PASM 7.50min

991 CS with Cups, SPASM, PCCBs 7.37min

991 times according to Mr Achleitner. Same numbers I was in prerelease 991 docs.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Not as good as Carrara on PS, but this a quick PS that i made...

Can someone tell if it`s close to the real?

    Hi Kreso,

Well, in the media Mr Achleitner has been talking about a test lap of 7:40..with a standard 991S of 7:50..this is confrimed with several articles in the German press. So far so good, but..

with your 7:37 (even with Cups)... - that would be better than 458 which has almost 200hp more....- honestly - I dont believe that ..we will see what the official Sport Auto test will be.

If they dont get the 7:37 that you claim - then you will invite me to Croatia for one week of holidaySmiley...if I loose I send you some Belgian chocolate..deal? You shouldnt bet against me...most people will loose..OK...its a different industry but..

Was just in Slovenia and Croatia...always like it there Smiley

    take care & sunny evening,

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

    KresoF1:

OK... I think this can be posted. 991 is NOT any wider then 997.2! 1808mm is exactly the same number. Front track is 53mm wider on the other hand rear track is the same as on 997.2 Carrera S. Overall dimensions are 4491 x 1290 x 1808 with 2450mm wheelbase. 991 Carrera S weight is 1420kg.

991 Carrera S numbers are 400ps/440Nm, red line is at 7800rpm. 4.1s is for 0-100km/h...

Wheels on the pics above are 20". Standard brakes in 991 S are the sime in size as on current 997.2 Turbo.

Well, nothing really new, these numbers are from the current ams issue from Thursday this week. Smiley

Good job pjd! And guys, stop whining about power, and Nordschleife times. As it has been since 1948, power has never been a main concern for Porsche (though it is one of them). Weight is the most important. And at 400hp, there is plenty enough! And as you heard the 350hp base model is more than sufficient. I think many are overlooking all the chassis improvements as well. Virtually nothing has been announced about the chassis, except that it will be the best one a 911 ever had. It's not always about power. IMHO, the chassis comes before the power.

And 'ring times... Virtually every source is reporting slightly different times for both models, and there are no details at all on the runs, and they aren't official. Don't get you're panties in a bunch until Porsche actually officially announces the times with details, and possibly even video to go around.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

not bad at all, but overall I like the 997.1 more, that's like the water cooled 993

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

    MKSGR:
Lukas: A shame though that the rear isn't any wider. I would have hoped for that.

They did not change the size for optical reasons... If the rear was wider as well the setup / handling would be different, of course Smiley

Wider body esp at the rear end equals more weight and drag , thus reducing handling , acceleration, top speed.  It's a fine balancing act between stylistically wanting a more 1970's  first gen Turbo -like  wide butt/pinched waist  body AND  lowest weight/best performance - everything is a compromise .

Great result. 4.1s for 0-100 is a great result and faster than 4.5s of 997.2 Carrera GTS KresoF1, why is 991 faster if they have the same engines as 997.2 GTs?

Remember,  power isn't as important as it seems. The chassis is very important, and has a major factor in not only handling, but also acceleration. It doesn't matter how much power you have, but how well it's managed, and what kind of chassis its strapped too. And in this case the 991 has a far superior chassis.

Really like the dome shaped headlights.  The tail lights look a bit narrow would have to see it in real life. But overall very "fresh" 911 design.

    take care & sunny evening,

First-regarding your bet... One week in Croatia(Adriatic coast) is at least for me light years more value then 100g of Belgian chocolate... No effense intended..

Second-991S needs only one thing when Sport Auto will test it-to be faster then 997.2CS equiped with CUPs. For me at least 7.50min for 991S with standard tires is more then OK.

BTW, why so much doubt in 991? Do you really think that Porsche will introduce a car that will be inferior to 997.2?

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

I have a prediction that the front light will look like this:

under the light there is a part that looks like eye puffness "eye bags" . so i figured maybe the head light tilts inside from bottom. and maybe tilts outward from the top.. like this sketch

    image56.jpgheadlight.JPG

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

    The interior (dashboard) was covered.

Tires were Pirellis 295 rear if i remember correctly?!Smiley

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Believe me guys, I also think those front lights are dreadful, I was only trying to be accurate. I hope I'm not.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Somehow that sketch reminds me of the Panamera sketch?

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Frankly I think the headlights and tail lights are small details that the general public will not even notice on this "new" 911.  It is highly unlikely that Porsche will permit the 911 to lose the face that launched 47 years of profit, and I suspect the final unveiling  will be anti-climatic based on what we've already seen.  To me the story is in the 3/4 profile of the "Lexus gold" 911 which appears to show a substantially larger car than the 997.  For that judgment I will need to see the car for myself.

Thanks KresoF1 for the numbers.  The 991 will be a fast and surely fantastic handling 911.

As to the size of the back, I ma more then happy that it is not larger. Narrow body work much better on the Carrera' s
