RC- it takes balls to order an older model so close to the launch of the new one :) why would you want to own 2 997s? They are great cars, don't get me wrong. Probably the best sports/commute to work cars ever created... But why own 2 of them? :)

Smiley i think he told that he switch the 997 turbo for the 997 GTS Cab....

Awesome, congratulations! Considering the specs you either ordered it that way or found a car very close to your liking. Very curious whether you can settle with such a modest amount of horsepower...

It must be a stop-gap car until the 991 Turbo (S) in 2013.

Obviously your wife has a very positive influence on your decisions Smiley Many congrats, RC Smiley GTS cab is a great car, which has it all: beautiful design, good performance, cab fun, if you like you can make the rear "dance" due to the short wheel base and rear engine position (not sure with the 991 in this regard....) and probably also a financially smart move Smiley Have fun and many happy miles Smiley

Many congrats RC - great choice !  as posted before I very much believe the 991 is going to be "cool" from a interior point of view but externally a 997.2 ticks so many boxes - Glad you went for one !

Hey look, Christian is alive! Tell us more about 991 please! Lol

Well, I was on a family vacation to Spain...sorry. Smiley Smiley

The yellow 991 on the upper image is still photoshopped (somebody removed the camouflage) but it is very close to the real thing. Job nicely done. Smiley

The front camouflage is actually not as good as Porsche thinks but the front lights aren't exactly round, just look closely and you'll see "through".

I know that many people expected a spectacular new 991 but as I told you many many months ago: Not going to happen.

This is why I went for a 997 GTS Cab instead, especially since performance should be similar to the 997 Carrera S Cab, considering the engine hp figures I have. Smiley

Say hello to my ride... Smiley

More to come on Monday, when I have more time for this.

Christian, looks like our cars have a few things in common - The seats, PCCB and yellow seat belt.  But have you got yellow dials like me too? Smiley  Congrats btw, looks stunning!

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

    Awesome stuff Christian, congratulations!
Black with pccbs and yellow seatbelts... exactly how I would spec it I think (in the looks department). Feel a bit sad though that you let the turbo go, so looking forward to your reasoning and driving reports.

Also, I hope you had a good holiday! Good to have you back mate!
    Cheers Joost.

    Congrats RC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just saw a GTS (coupe) here in Los Angeles and it was beautiful!!!

In fact, guy in a new Turbo S at the same interesection was staring at it admiringly!

here's an article for all about the GTS cab for all--

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Absolutely gorgeous car RC! I love how unique the car is, yet how simple the spec is! Awesome colour as well it looks fantastic.

BTW, what happened to the posts where you said its very close, they are missing?

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

    Again, Congrats!

Also, i can't wait to hear your driver's report, etc.

And!  your decision of why not to wait?!

i'm tempted to get a GTS myself and then wait to see what happens with the 991.2 in three or so years time.

(i like many more people wish that Porsche had taken a bit more risks (any risk) in the design or not made it look so 996-like.  Wished that it was like some of the illustrations that we saw.)

It just looks a bit boring to me based on the latest pics -- and i so desperately wanted to have an emotional reaction to its design.  I wanted to fall in love with the 991 so, so badly!!!!!!!

Again, Congrats on your GTS Cab!!!

And please tell us why you didn't feel the 991 was worth waiting for or what turned you off from waiting a few months.  Thank you.

    Again, congrats!!

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Right now i`m a bit worried about your comments, RC...

I "recorded" on my mind your post a few time ago, here you said that the 991 "it would be a beautifull car" and you have the intention to buy one...

Maybe my expectation on the 991 is to high...   i hope not...

Assuming that you not drive yeat a 991 (?), cannot see a plausible reason for going right into a 997 instead waiting for the 991... are any "downgrade" that you already know?

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

pjd: I assume it has to do with things such as how good a car the 997 already is, and because the first MY usually has some minor issues; chassis, suspension, and engine wise.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Yes, probably... let`s wait for what RC has to say on Monday...

I remember in 2004 for this time we already knew offcial details and real pics...

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

i really think i might do the same thing, RC -- the GTS is a beautiful car, the shapes are incredible and the performance seems phenomenal...

And it looks a lot better to me than the 996-ish 991 and then maybe i'll get a 991.2 in 3-4 years.

with only minor tweaks, i think the 997.2 is such a huge aesthetic leap from the 997.1 (not to mention all that they did underneath the skin) and it somehow looks so much more contemporary with the LED's, etc.

i'm sure the 991 will be a great, great car too.  that i have no doubt about. (though i'm curious about the new electric power steering)

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

BTW, grey 991 is not Meteor Grey. Color is probably Achatgraumetallic(new color for Pana Turbo S that will be available for 991 range). Gold 991 Carrera S shown in video is in color called Limegoldmetallic. You can(unfortunately) expect some new Brown shades as well...

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

     Thank`s for the info Kreso

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

    Congrats RC!

From what i see on the yellow car (i don't like the enormous back) and the comment i expect to hear from you about your choice, i'm even more convinced that my cjhoice not to spend my money on a brand new 991 and to buy my 2008 R8 as intermediate car was a good choice.

Now i can test the 991 and wait for a 2nd handone in a year or two.

Since the gain in power (991)  is not a big one , your choice for the really great looking GTS is a brilliant step.

I agree with your description of the "enormous back" beltar.

the porsche nameplate will be there to break-up the huge-ness of it, but still.

the great Larson illustrations that i saw in Autocar really seemed to have visual details (and aerodynamic qualities i assume) that made the proportions beautiful IMvHO.  of course, we'll all need to see the car in person.

    **

curious, how you like your R8 and how it compares to a 997.2 S -- i see the R8's all over LA, many times a day so they're very popular here.
