Dealers will receive their launch 991 coupes in Jan - Feb and suspect the cabs will arrive in May for June launch.  I think dealers will see customer cars - 991 coupes  in April. We will certainly know more come this September.

I hope so. It would be shame if the US had to wait longer than Europe.

Guys, hopefully, the wait will be over soon and the actual launch photos and car specification will come out ... then we can all have a proper discussion on the actual capabilities of the car and whether it has met or not met expectations

... and then, kind moderator, could you pleeeeaaasssse terminate this thread and move us to a new one that is based on the real car instead of endless camo shots??  Smiley

Funny that you mention that, because yes, even after the car is released, there will still be spyshots of slightly camoed cars driving around Stuttgart  up until the debut.

Sure Smiley I'm sure RC will post a thread with the official press release and official launch photos ...

I'm sure there will be other threads with magazine reviews, test drives, guys ordering their new cars ... photos from dealer launch events etc

This will be fun ... all over again ... just like when the 997 was launched back in 2004 Smiley Happy times ... Smiley

The headlight design appears to have been leaked courtesy of a new game "Need For Speed The Run".

Car appears around 1:03 very briefly.

it seems that is the 997.2

The side mirror it`s not fixed on the door and the headlight is the same from 997.2

I was about to post the same thing...

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Apologies. It does look like a 997. I saw this info posted on Teamspeed and didn't check it thoroughly enough. It's unlike a forthcoming game not to feature the latest cars so it looks like this one is claiming to have the new 911 when all it really has is a 997.2.

    997 light for comparison.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

991 Will look great... my feeling

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Silver looks even hotter in these pictures! It's so natural to have Silver on a 911, and in my opinion, not at all boring I love it! Oh and the Cab looks hot!

Also, I remember back when the 997 came out, Porsche had experimented with a hardtop, but the engine took up too much space for one. Now with the engine mounted seemingly lower, and the closed roof cover and rear lid as on piece, I think a hardtop is very plausible. I wouldn't mind, I'd just prefer they wrap it in canvas, I love that look!

BTW, in the first couple pictures from Teamspeed, you can see a Turbo cab in the background, and even a Boxster and Cayman are in this set!

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Are you aware that almost 35% of all Porsche's on the road today are silver? Nothing like melting into the crowd.Smiley

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

nberry: Cool fact, didn't know that. But still, GT Silver and Cocoa will always be one of the best combinations! It even looks good on an RS 4.0, which in the opinion of many should look insane, but the orange certainly screams RS!...

Here are some Turbo Cabriolet pictures. Panamera style exhaust looks surprisingly sexy here.

It looks like the Turbo wing splits, like it does on the Panamera Smiley

Looks like there is a camo piece across the whole top of the wing.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

This time i think the Turbo will came earlier that in the past...

We saw test mules of the 997 TT  when the 997 was just on launched and on sale...now the 991 is again with a few camo and the 991 TT has just lost a part of it...

i think the Turbo will come around an year later than the N/A,on year before that in the 997 series...

Great find - unfortunately not the right light! I have seen the head light "surprise" and let me tell you it looks different!

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Doesn't look right to me ... only the bulb design looks different but not the overall headlight shape ... can't be right IMvHO.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

the car just look too long

    I really miss the 993

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

The 993 besides being old tech and ancient to drive, it looks too small by today's standards.

It is the size of today's lower class sports cars like TT, SLK etc. It doesn't have the required presence that has become the norm in today's traffic.

It was a great latter day transformation for the air-cooled antique Porsche, but now it has its a museum piece.

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

I wouldn't judge a 993 by its size. It's all about the experience ... the sound of that air-cooled engine ...

Today's cars are big and bloated by comparison ... so many regulations about crumple zones, pedestrian impact friendly surfaces etc ... plus all the comfort specs need space ...

Re: 991 spy shots Thread Closed

Agreed easy_rider911. I think that Porsche does a great job at making the 911 look slim these days. Most new cars look obese, boring, and have a really high nose, all in the name of regulations. I mean just look at any new BMW! Nearly all of them are fat, big, ugly, and have a high nose. The new 911 is bigger than the 997, but still a small car by today's standards. Also, the nose looks lower than the 997's which is a wonderful thing, and I agree, there is a lot of 904 in the front end.

Todays's BMWs are so very different to the BMWs that I grew up adoring as a teenager ...

    Do you remember the 2002?
