    JimFlat6:

Notice that the 2.8  has taller stacks for more torque and the Singer has shorter stacks for more revs....

Jim, the Singer's stacks are about as long (or even longer) - it's a bit deceiving, since the throttle butterfly is placed about half way up (in the square shaped coupler) and extends further down to the heads.  That 2.8 has the slide-valve injection placed at the very bottom, so it looks like the stack is longer.

It looks like a huge piece of plastic cover. I never been a fan of to much plastic. Even though it is painted, you still see that there is a soft material underneath! Anyway - for small bumps it might reduce spare-costs. Oh - wait a moment, its a Porsche, so I correct - it will increase margin span Smiley

Had a call from my OPC last night, first UK cars are scheduled for delivery in Jan 2012 and would I be interested in one, though would mean speccing in September, so would need to attend Frankfurt to see the car.

Am tempted, but the dilemma I have is that the Spyder is turning out to be so good that I'm having second thoughts on 'upgrading'

That said, would I really want one of the first cars and the potential niggles - I like my OPC but don't want to spent to much time with them

Looking at the engine is part of car ownership but 911s were never good at that, anyway.

Is that a standard car from the factory?

Yes, 1973 Carrera RSR 2.8 (there were racing and road versions that looked like this under the rear decklid from the factory).  Around 900kg, 308hp at 8,000rpm, huge 4-Piston brakes, incredible throttle response and manual steering rack (light but fantastic feel). Built about 40 years ago, but no street-legal Porsche has been as fun since and few can keep up on a track.

The specs on the '73 RSR are amazing!

It´s in the details... there are a few differences between the rendering and the spyshot. Especially the curvature on the lower end of the taillights and on the rear wiing´s lip is different and contributing signfificantly to the overall impression.

Interesting RC. I admit, I like the lights better on the one you posted. Will there really be that fourth air slat just below the mini ducktail between the two tail lights?

Also, are we talking a "996 style" surprise with the headlights?

Re: Porsche 991 GT3 to include GT1 motorsport engine... Thread Closed

Thanks for the clarification RC!! love the auto bild rendering. Surprise in the front? I hope it's LEDs and a more elongular and less oval design like 918.

Re: Porsche 991 GT3 to include GT1 motorsport engine... Thread Closed

I have had a convertible with minor camo (rear exactly like the one out of the video) ahead of me in Stuttgart traffic. First of all - it took me a while to recognize that this is a 991 and not a 997 - the basic shape and look on the road is to similar. Second - I wasn't convinced with the rear - it looks very high and clumsy. I hope that it looks much better after the camo is gone.

Anyway - the car is look wise a minor evolution of the 997, wished to see a jump as from the 993 to 996, especially as they claim to made a 100% new development.

At the moment I am a bit worried about that...... but still believe Porsche would not make such a mistake.

If there is a curved shape under the new wing/line then it will not look high. And as to now this part is till hidden ( or was it not ?  )

In this month's copy of Car magazine Georg Kacher says the detailing in the headlights on each model will be slightly different so that the S, turbo etc are more readily distinguishable from the Carrera. I take that to mean layout of the reflectors etc inside the same basic headlight shape so I'm guessing some models such as the turbo will get full LED lights whilst  the Carrera will have regular xenons.

The car I've seen was almost not camouflaged anymore. It was exactly like the one we have seen in the video. It might be that we have to get used to it - sure it will look good, but as I said - not evolutionary enough!
