The new M5 - Official Specs

Not impressed by the numbers. They were either limited by the DCT's torque capabilities or they are playing dirty tricks by keeping more power for the future M5 Grand Coupe. I bet than on a straight line from a rolling start the new AMG 63 range is faster.

    Copied from Bimmerpost: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=544860

    Official Specs / Stats:

    560PS (552hp) / 680Nm (501tq) V8 twin-turbo
    552hp at 6,000rpm (E60 M5 reached max 507PS at 7750rpm)
Max torque at just 1500rpm (vs E60 M5 which had max torque of 507Nm)
7-speed DCT transmission (manual transmission also likely, based on yesterday's photos.)

    0-100km (0-62mph) in 4.4 seconds (E60 M5 took 4.7 seconds)
    0-200km (0-124mph)in 13 seconds
    M-Drivers-Package will increase top speed from 250km/h to 305km/h (127mph to 189mph)
    Active M-differential with torque vectoring
Looks to break 8min lap at Nurburgring

Tires are 265/35 ZR 20" front 295/30 ZR 20" rea

    €100.000? It's good value I think.

Why are you not impressed? 0-100 kph is definitely limited by traction, the 0-200 kph time might be a factory claim and can easily vary to the better or worse.

Other than that, very nice and understated car.

So are we done with those silly M5 teasers?

I guess I'll keep my RS6 for now.

Hey guys when is the new M5 coming out? I mean the one after this one

It's been such a long wait and there are zero surprises.. we knew it would look this way to 100% accuracy..

indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

Yes, it looks good, but I'll still buy a Panamera any day over this unless I need a 5 seater.

The M5 is the only car in this segment with a manual gearbox option, I think...

Cadillac CTS-V should also be available with a manual gearbox, if I remember correctly.

Yes, that's true.  Manual in Sedan, Coupe and Wagon (Estate).

Re: The new M5 - Official Specs

People want luxury to go with the power, hence the curb weight. Remember what segment the M5 is in when you judge it. More power, better economy, better looks than the e60. Looks like a winner here.

EU 1945 kg is with 68kg driver + 7 kg luggage. DIN 1870 kg is the weight of the car with %90 fuel tank and ready to operate. Dry (curb) weight should be around 1750 kg which is not too bad for its segment IMO. What's the weight of Panamera Turbo?

Panamera weight according to the Porsche site is 4343 lbs which is roughly 1974kg.

I'm almost certain that 1970 kg of panamera is the lightest possible weight (probably with PCCB's and lightest wheels). So M5 is lighter well over 220lbs and people are still complaining. I wouldn't buy either of them but I think M5 is a smarter choice in terms of value, daily use and practicality.

It says: "Weight is calculated in accordance with the relevant EC Directives and is valid for standard specification vehicles only. Optional equipment means greater weight. The figure given includes 68 kg for the driver and 7 kg for luggage."

All manufacturers probably calculate it the same way.

Porsche doesn't. It is proven on GT series.
