Re: re Centre Locking Wheels on the track - 560Nm not 500Nm

Has anybody already done the change?

OPC tells me they most probably need the car for two days, because they have to check some things in advance, before they can order the parts required. Parts seem to be dependent on the test results.

    Anybody heard about this?

     Yep see my previous post.

They need to check the condition of the five stub nuts on the brake disk bells, if these are loose and have caused damage then could result in new brake disks !

Re: re Centre Locking Wheels on the track - 560Nm not 500Nm

    Thanks Chris.

Stupid me, I read your post several times, but always read "The OPC also want my car in in a week" instead of "for a week".

Re: re Centre Locking Wheels on the track - 560Nm not 500Nm

Had a chat with the service manager of my Porsche Center. He told me that the service action has been open since this Monday. The centre locking nuts will be replaced by new ones that have no indication about NM to be used on them anymore. He also said that there's no change in material except for the imprint. He assured me that it is just a product liability issue, nothing more. However, the parts are not deliverable by Porsche headquarters at the moment, go figure...

Spoke to my OPC who told me that, on my GTS, the torque is already pre-set at 600 Nm..

That sounds most puzzling to me. They need the car 2 days (or more) to check out if the brakes got an damage?? I,ve got the mail from my OPC just before my start in the summer vacation. So I have to check what my dealer will tell me after my return.

Re: re Centre Locking Wheels on the track - 560Nm not 500Nm

I had the job done this week, it took the OPC less than one day. After they had moved the old lug nuts, they had to check if other parts were damaged and have to be replaced. As this hasn't been the case, they just had to change the lug nuts.

The positive aspect of this campaign: I had a GTS for two days, very nice car indeed.

Re: re Centre Locking Wheels on the track - 560Nm not 500Nm

Had a appointment for doing the Job Tuesday - and when bringing the car - they called me next (!) day that the parts are not deliverable currently......what a joke on service. Why would u be called-in at a certain date to get it done and then tell me next day the parts are not there.... - I recalled the km-stand when I left it there - if they drove it I will raise hell.....not amused....

Were the parts referred to just the nuts (as was the case with Rossi), or does your car also need to have hubs replaced?

Re: re Centre Locking Wheels on the track - 560Nm not 500Nm

I don't know - they told me they check both but I am not sure what they intend to change. Will advise when done - I hope both no matter of need or not.

Re: re Centre Locking Wheels on the track - 560Nm not 500Nm

They will change everything to be on the safe side I've just been told - however, call me again when the parts arrived.....

Those are the sort of antics I expect in this part of the world - not in Europe. Now I think about it, the workshop here put 30km on the clock doing the PDI before delivery. Seems a bit much considering they flatbed from the port to the workshop then to the showroomSmiley
