John H:
As far as police presence goes.. there are no speed cameras on the Triangle. There have been occasions when mobile traps have been sited on the A5 and I've seen a police car a few times driving anti-clockwise. They're more interested in controlling bikers and mostly at week-ends.
Good to hear that ex-Chief Constable Brunstrom didn't leave any permanent after-effects. He seemed to be determined to get drivers out of their cars and into heroin cafés.

Joost - I'm afraid I will disappoint you by saying that I'm just a point & shoot person. My camera is a humble Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10 costing less than £200! - no special lenses and no filters. If the results are good, I guess I just got lucky! Perhaps the lack of exposure in bright sunshine was due to the car actually being quite dirty following the laps of "The Triangle"
That's impressive John! I heard a lof of enthusiastic stories about the TZ10... guess they're true! :-)
Really nice pics, and thanks for sharing.
@ Throt - many thanks Keith - let's just hope we haven't already had our summer..
@ Gilmour - the wait will be worth it.. I promise you!
@ Joost - I think you may be right.. Panasonic Lumix are on a roll it seems. My wife has a TZ5 and my son has a TZ8. The whole range seem to be way above average for the price. Mine (TZ10) even has HD AVCHD video, which I've yet to try as I'm happy with my Sony TG -3E Handycam for movies...

Congrats! What I like best about the GTS are the clean lines, that's why I wouldn't choose and aftermarket wing. Also not a big fan of the clear glass tail lights. For the rest

I'd agree - fantastic car, wise spec - except for the last item.

I'm not sure about the wing - a photo would be appreciated.
Did you choose the RS Spyder wheels with centre locking? If so the addition of TPM may be a good idea, for peace of mind, as changing tyres on these wheels is a job for the OPC. TPM would indicate the presence of a slow puncture well in advance of visual or feel.
Please consider deleting 'rear park assist' as the sensors seriously impair the appearance of a smooth, clean wide-body rear end.
Did you try PDK before deciding on a stick manual shift?
Just a couple of observations - I think, whatever, you will have one superb machine..

a friend from FMT (swiss Porsche specialist) told me once you cannot just slam a spoiler on the back of a car without considering the front for the overall balance - but then of course for normal speeds it might be ok and anyway only "for the looks". I love the clean look of the GTS and would not ad a aftermark wing on it....just my 2 cents. - other than that congrats ! Fab car u won't regret the Alcantara interior - it looks stunning to me
I'm not a friend of wings, especially when they aren't necessary.
Which brings me to a pretty funny point: During my last trip to Miami, I saw several Porsche cars, Panamera, 911s...most of them had the wing raised at very low speeds and/or at the parking lot. Sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous. Especially the Panamera with the raised wing at the parking lot looked funny and even my son asked me "Daddy, why is the wing raised, he isn't driving?".
The GTS has such a clean design line, adding a wing would just destroy it. I saw a Porsche owned GTS Coupe with the Aerokit and it looked hideous in my opinion.

So true, noticed this as well in the US. Here an example from another thread

Sorry John, feel like I have robbed thread from you. Anyway, beauty is in the eye of beholder, and to each his opinion, nevertheless I appreciate all your comments. I didn't customise the 997S C2S.1 because it was leased, but now that I am buying this GTS, I want to customise to my own taste. Some like their women slim, I like mine with a booty, we all have our own taste I guess.
John,
...just checking in...how's your ride these days? Any news I can look forward to? How many miles (Kms) on her now?
I am just curious...how's your oil consumption? I'm at 2,850 miles and just added my first 1/2 quart. Not too bad, huh?
How many Kms before you are going to change your oil?
Also, how's your exhaust note? Has her growling changed since she was new?
Cheers!
@ Bitko - no robbery - good idea to keep GTS news in as few threads as possible... appreciate your personal rationale.
@ Doug - Just coming up to 3500 miles. My oil measurement is down by one bar but still haven't added any from new! Don't intend to change the oil until the first service... as advised in the manual. The exhaust note has deepened slightly, when starting from cold, but is still way quieter than my previous C2S with the mod.
All in all, this is a fabulous car which I enjoy more and more every time I drive it....

Interesting...perhaps the manual six speed contributes to a bit more oil consumption? ...or maybe it was the 110 (very "spirited") miles I put on her at the race track? ...probably more likely the reason I went down a 1/2 quart.
....loving every mile I drive the GTS more than the mile before!
