Don't get me wrong, the Black Series is stunning! So mercedes-benz, super fast and track oriented but with daily capabilities... The price tag is just stupid though. When you can buy a CLK55 AMG and convert to a Black yourself for thousands cheaper

Or a GT3RS for the same price! Smiley The SLS Roadster does look good, with the top down the sound track will be magnificent.

OTOH , the coupe looks like a 1988 Buick Reatta

I disagree with this part, in the metal it has a road presence very different from any other car out there, its sexy and sleek. pictures really make it look bad in comparison.

The car will be a stunner as the coupe already is. For me it is the most adorable sporty car right now (I don't say sport car!).

If it would be a bit cheaper I would get one for sure. But 200k€ is just over my price range for a car I would probably drive 3000 km a year!

Of course taste is very subjective, but the SLS doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't touch me at all. I don't doubt its engineering and the way it drives but as a design it leaves me cold. I find the SL (in spite of its age and the "one in every street" factor) a stronger statement.

The car will be a stunner as the coupe already is. For me it is the most adorable sporty car right now (I don't say sport car!).

If it would be a bit cheaper I would get one for sure. But 200k€ is just over my price range for a car I would probably drive 3000 km a year!

I love the SLS. If it wasn't for the Italia, I'd have gotten one by now.

I think the retro style of SLS suits the cabrio more than the coupe.

The coupe might be dynamically the better choice and some people go for gullwing doors, but truth is the cabrio is a more natural shape for the SLS.

Hehe, that's exactly what I said until I saw (a red) one for real. This car has amazing presence, but you have to see it in the flesh to realize that. The only thing I didn't like about it was the headlight design, which is plain wrong from any angle conceivable. Nothing a facelift can't fix, though.

I see a metallic red one too every day (in the dealership) and I still remain untouched. Of course this doesn't say much about the car, just my personal taste. From the pictures the Roadster looks more improved.

If I were to spend this amount of money for a car, I would choose the R8 V10 Spyder.

I think the competitor for the sls is lp560 not r8 v10...the r8 is 911 competitor (judging by the price at least)

That the R8 V10 is significantly cheaper than the Mercedes SLS and it costs as much as a mundane 911 Turbo is a huge bonus for the prospective buyer.

Because, you get a special looking car of top quality, with a rare V10, and the classic mid-engined sportscar configuration for less money. The star of Mercedes is ubiquitous nowadays and the brand is not exclusive to merit such a price difference.

I'd wait for the next model year when the updated R8, with a more powerful V10 and improved R-tronic, will appear (as per Kreso's info).

Audi V10 €123K before taxes

Turbo S €145 before taxes

Mercedes €160K before taxes

The V10 looks like a bargain to me for what it offers compared to the other two (which are excellent in their own way). The Mercedes is more into the exotic price bracket. I think the SLS price must have escalated in the process, compared to the original estimate

If I remember well originally the price was rumoured to be around €120 ex factory. Obviously, Mercedes have gone over budget, hopefully for buyers due to their thorough engineering approach with this car.

It is selling very well in its first year, which was to be expected because it is a fresh car from a manufacturer with an established clientele. The second year will be successful too as a result of the Roadster. Another strong selling point for the SLS is that its style is "ageless" (as opposed to timeless), in the sense that it can appeal to someone in his 30s but also to someone in his 70s.

We'll see how it goes when the initial buzz declines
