Same here but to be honest, I understand this guy and sometimes I wish I could just rub a certain product in the manufacturer's face.

For Lamborghini, this is a PR nightmare in China because I think this "demonstration" really made some potential customers thinking.

If I have a complaint, I usually write a letter - far cheaper and usually equally effective - provided the letter is written the right way

It reminds me of when a relative of mine applied for UK citizenship - he fulfilled all the criteria but the UK Home Office delayed responding for over 5 years - due, I presume, to an administrative error. In the meantime, my relative's family circumstances had changed so he had to move overseas to handle his family's business. While overseas, the various specialist immigration lawyers that my relative had contacted all told him it would be impossible given that he had now left and given the time that had passed since his application - even though the Home Office was originally at fault. He asked me if I could help. It's not the area of law I usually practice in - but I wrote one letter ... result? A UK citizenship certificate (by naturalisation) came in the post within 3 weeks

I hope the point was made and I would assume it was. On one hand I say good for him, but I can't help but feel sorry for the car.

Once I saw a guy kicking the hell out of his SL55 door @ MB dealership.  Although I understood his frustration but he looked like an ass!!

Re: The ultimate protest over poor service...

Exactly - there are smarter ways to show you're not happy with a product or the service provided ...

I am very unhappy with your level of service; so now watch me destroy my OWN property.

I felt the same way about the Los Angeles Riots back in the 90's. If you want to make a riotous statement about the dual treatment and abusive policy, why they hell would you destroy YOUR OWN neighborhoods?! Take it to Santa Monica or Beverley Hills.

Note:  Not that I endorse this sort of activity.

Well, again...I can understand a situation when you tried everything, really everything and nothing happens.

Remember my frustration with Porsche and the Cayenne Turbo? After getting up to the boss of quality management at Weissach and seeing that he couldn't care less, I wrote many angry letters to the "right" people(and I know they received them judging by the replies) but nobody actually did something useful, I was left alone.

At that time, I was ready to park my Cayenne Turbo in front of Weissach main gate and to chain myself to the car until the press arrives. I know it sounds childish but I was very very close to it.

Because then they'd get shot. Smiley

Anyway, the guy was making a point about the service provided by foreign companies to Chinese consumers in general so it's a bigger issue than it seems on the surface. He chose the day specifically and had media in attendance so I don't think he's quite the fool people seem to think he is.

It worked as intended, his goal at this point wasn't to fix his lambo but to hurt the company. And it did, this story is on a lot of blogs.

Do you really think Lambo's sales will be effected? I think it will not at all. 99% of blogs readers are not their target buyers. The remaining 1% (that counts) could care less of such a stunt.

My superleggera had a defect and got burned on me less than a week after i got it. It happened in one of the busiest streets in the city. Thank God no one got hurt from the fire. The funny thing is that the dealer got multiple calls from clients asking for the same model. Although the car i bought was in the showroom for over a year and it was heavily discounted. If it wasn't for the color combo and the discount i wont even think of getting it.

Re: The ultimate protest over poor service...

Imagine him burning it outside the Lamborghini factory. Now that would be a protest.

Re: The ultimate protest over poor service...

That would be like having a sore leg, going to see the doctor and he fails to diagnose or correct the problem and you in disgust amputate the leg.

This was a very stupid stunt and if anything he hurt himself far more than he hurt Lambo. This act is the mother of all stupidity.Smiley

At a speculative guess I'd say the guy has probably earned so much money in the span of just a few years that the financial consequences of his action are negligible for him, but that the lack of consumer protection rights in his market and/or sympathetic and competent handling of his grievances by his dealer drove him to this spectacular, desperate measure.

People who have become accustomed to getting their own way can react irrationally when they suddenly come up against barriers they can't surmount.

I don't think it's like that at all. My leg is fairly important to me, so cutting it off would be a big sacrifice. These nouveaux businessmen in china are probably so rich that it's not a big deal to them.

Re: The ultimate protest over poor service...

Even the Nouveau Riche wont do such a thing,

I was dramatically making the point that only insane stupidity would make one hurt himself to "send a message". If he is rich, I don't know how he got his money but certainly it could not be because he is smart. Smiley

I am inclined to believe the same. Speculating about his motivation to buy this car in the first place, it sends a signal that the car and its value does not compensate for the dissatisfaction he experienced with Lamborghini´s customer service. According to the article, he did contact Lamborghini in Italy as well as several relevant people within the organisation.

I dont get all that hard work for those people to destroy such a masterpeace.

If he really wanted to destroy this beauty, he would have just took it out for a ride.

    I dont know..

He should have driven it off a cliff... like Slash in the Don't Cry video.

Hang on.. maybe the car simply didnt start. Then obviously that wouldn't work

    Hmmm...

Nevertheless, I think it would have been a lot cooler if he had taken the sledgehammer to it himself.. or a chainsaw... or... or a flamethrower

Getting a gang of 15 guys on it was very lame-ass and uncool
