Cayenne S Hybrid
I haven't seen much info on the Cayenne S hybrid so I'll just provide a brief perspective since we just picked one up couple of weeks ago.
Car is not broken in yet, but so far the hybrid and engine seem to work pretty seamlessly, but is also hard to recognize when the electric motor is doing the work and contributing. You can put the car in full electric mode up to about 37mph, but once you apply more throttle the engine kicks in. While the car is in electric mode is is really quiet, in fact, when I switched on the ignition the first time, I didn't even realize the car was on and ready to go. But once the car starts rolling, you start to hear road noise from the big heavy tires, so in a sense, it feels like a normal car. So far, I've been able to get about about 23 to 25mpg in mixed conditions. From the outside, it is hard to tell that it is a hybrid, except for a badge on the side. Porsche should've put the word "hybrid" below in "Cayenne S" in the rear.
When the car is in engine mode, is basically sounds and feels like the Audi A6 supercharger engine. Linear power, but it also sounds a little rough. I think it would be better if the car is offered with a turbo V6 instead.
Overall, it is a nice package; pretty good handling, and good fit and finish. But it does seem like it is one of the more complex hybrid system out there as you don't really know when the electric engine is running or charging. And the dash seems kind of busy with lots of buttons and controls.
Also notice in the pics below that from the front, the lines of new cayenne is remarkable similar to that of the CGT, which I only noticed when the two cars were parked side by side. Also notice that there is a metal plate behind the ceramic breaks. I haven't seen this plate before in other road cars with ceramic brakes, but later the dealer said it is there to protect the brakes from debris. Makes sense since this is supposed to be an offroad machine, but ironically fitted with pzeros.
