    Renault says its 2011 F1 car has an "aggressive design" and that its design is "very brave" and at "the brave end of brave".

    They claim to be aiming to be in the top 3 this season. With Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren in those places last year, this is quite an ambitious target IMHO. But, like they say, if you don't aim high, you won't succeed. Renault also wants to win races this year. They certainly had the engine to do it - since Red Bull was powered by a Renault engine last year - but can they catch up overall with the top 3?

    Lucas Di Grassi is targeting a return to a race seat in F1 in 2012. Sadly for him, I think it may be the end of the road for him as far as F1 is concerned.

    And to blur the lines between Lotus Renault (Group Lotus) and Lotus Renault (Team Lotus/Lotus Racing) even more, Fairuz Fauzy has moved from the latter team to the former team as a third driver.

    Force India still hasn't announced its driver line up for 2011 but Dy Vijay Mallya says he hopes to do so in the "next few days".

    If I were Sutil, I would be really fed up with waiting. But at least he is already well set in the team. However, not knowing that you have a confirmed race seat can't be good for one's pre-season mental preparation.

    As for Liuzzi, it's clear that the team has lost patience with him. He was too erratic and seldom delivered decent performances in 2010. He was regularly outperformed in qualification and the race by Sutil. IMHO he won't get to drive for Force India again so he should realise that his best outcome is to secure the best pay-off he can for going away or accepting a third/reserve driver seat instead.

    Di Resta must be tired of waiting for his race seat. He's already been a Friday Practice F1 driver for the team last year so at least he won't take long to settle into the race position. It just amazes me that the team has taken 2 months over this. Hardly ideal.

    Flavio Briatore thinks Webber should have either not told his team about his injured shoulder in the latter part of the 2010 season or that he should have told them straight away rather than telling them at the end of the season. I agree. Telling them late just showed the whole world how much Webber felt isolated in Red Bull.

    Liuzzi's manager concedes that Liuzzi may not race in F1 this season. Why not tell us something we don't know? Of the available drivers without a race seat, why don't Force India hire Heidfeld and Hulkenberg? They would be a good pairing - experience/consistency and young talent you can build on for the future.

    Berger thinks BMW quit F1 too quickly. I agree - you need patience. Being good enough to win races and titles and then actually doing so takes time - more time than a company board of directors might plan for in its business plan.

    BMW was an engine supplier to F1 for a long time - they were very successful and IMO should have continued this.

    But they set too tight a timeframe to win titles once they became a race team. I remember Mario Thiessen saying year 1 was just to become competitive, year 2 was to win races and year 3 was to win titles. Even Red Bull didn't manage it that fast.

     I agree that Newey seems unstoppable, doesn't he. Hard to imagine just a couple of years ago they seemed a second rate team.

    It's also hard to imagine that after their start of the 2009 season, Brawn/Mercedes went so flat. On the other hand, one could see Ross Brawn coming back in a new season with a new look at the rules and a car to make the most of them. If he did that, if he had a car that was on par with the Red Bull, I think he has the drivers to take advantage of it.

    Ferrari had such momentum at the end of the season. How do you think the new rules will affect them? Will they come on strong or will they take half the season to come up to speed?
