Owned. But the person driving this M5 is dangerous IMHO
Are you refering to when the driver drifted to the edge of the track at high speed? That looked pretty foolish to me.
1st video: at 0.56, he's on the throttle before straightening up enough making the car unstable through the right hand bend. At 1.48, he is going way too fast before entering the narrow lane with traffic approaching in the opposite direction. At 2.19, he completely misjudges the entry into the left hand bend resulting in a spin.
2nd video: at 0.38, makes an easily avoidable spin by misjudging the line.
He's dangerous IMHO
Anyway, putting aside his driving for a moment, 2 things occurred to me ...
i) the M5 (and other high powered sedans e.g. AMG, Audi RS models) are perfect for the Autobahn but are no match for a sports car.
ii) the 997.2 TTS PDK is lightening quick - when I saw how easily it vanished into the distance, my only reaction was just to laugh. It was so much faster, it was just ridiculous!

Currently, there is probably no car (or motorcycle) to beat the 997 Turbo S from 0-100 kph.
Even if the motorcycle would be faster, due to traction issues/rider incompetence, it doesn't stand a chance.
Kudos to those who got a 997 Turbo S...one of my favorite Porsche models !
Whoever tunes the 997 Turbo S must be nuts, thrown out money.

TTS it´s just unbelieveble.
Have been on Lambopower and those guys from Gallardo board who have the LP560, a car with more 30hp and less weight, don´t even bother to run against a TTS, they all recognise they don´t have the slightest chance to beat the Turbo in straight line acceleration...respect.

That turbo S is just insane. The speed with which it disappeared into the distance in the first movie...
There must be something really special in the way thatit gets it's power to the ground though, if it is able to outperform cars with 30bhp more and less weight... Are there any technophiles who could shed a light on that?

Agree - here's one battling on track with a Cayman S PDK - even though the M5 has a 180bhp advantage over the Cayman, and is clearly quicker in a straight line, it can't get away from it as it is so unruly in corners..

The turbo S performance is unbelievable!

Could it be that the official power figure of the Turbo S is rather conservative?
Or the official power figures of the Italians are rather optimistic.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
I think it's a combination of a few things:
(1) Sounds like the 911 was using Launch Control while the M5 was not
(2) The ground was wet, clearly giving the advantage to any car w/AWD + Launch Control
(3) The M5 was on less than optimal condition tires.
Not to take anything away from the 911T though. It was boogieing and is a seriously fast car. Looking forward to the new tricks they pull out the bag in the next 911T. Should be interesting given that the car will be lighter, 20mm shorter at the overhangs, 50mm wider, and riding on a 10mm longer wheelbase.

Let me put it this way: I heard that all dynoed factory cars (they do it after a certain run cycle, apparently to sort out possible issues) had way over 550 HP. So yes, one would think that the claimed 530 HP are quite conservative but I also think that Porsche has succeeded in creating a perfect synergy with the AWD, PASM, etc. and PDK.

Thanks for the vid.
I am sooooo in love with my turbo S cab, there is nothing I mean nothing better out there for the money. The only car I lust over is a 458 Italia (mainly for looks, exclusivity), but in addition to the TTS. A fast Cab is really fun. This one is a keeper. Its galactical.
I agree with RC, anyone trying to mod this car is plain nuts. Any faster I bet your brain will eek out of your skull.
Happy new year all.
