great pics, nice car and that frigate/destroyer What kind of ship and is it middle eastern? Very sleek and modern - both of them.
Looks like an extended keel thing in front below the water line.
The ship is the first of three corvettes built for the Royal Oman Navy by BAE Surface Ships in Portsmouth (where the photographs were taken). They are conventional single hull. The structure just below the waterline you mention is the bulbous bow, a design feature that almost all modern ships have which improves the underwater streamlining .

Wow DC, cool pics, and interesting backdrop... that is navy ships is in your line of profession, isn't it?
BTW, is that a new baby cayenne prototype in the background of the first pic? j/k
My profession, is ship repair, mainly commercial ships. This time of year I project manage local ferries which refit in the Portsmouth dockyard. I don't have any involvement in the ship building division.
Now you know why I have to have a camera permit in the dockyard - so I don't accidentally photograph secret prototypes

Very nice indeed inside and outside!
I see you didn't go for PASM. In this case it's good that you stayed with 18" wheels.
I had PASM in both previous Boxsters with 19" wheels. Deleting it this time, as with the 19" wheels, was an economy measure. One of the "should I, shouldn't I" debates I had with myself. I tried to keep the cost of optional extras in check this time. I find the ride firmer than it was in the Boxsters, about mid-way between the normal and sport settings. I had the same debate over the memory comfort seats or the adaptive sports seats also. In the end we had the standard (non sports) seats.
PDK is brilliant though, especially with the new "paddle shift" wheel. Sport chrono is a must with PDK IMO to get the sport / sport plus shift programmes, but I wasn't bothered about the stop watch that comes with it.

Beautiful photos DC - looks great - how are you finding the PDK so far?
Hi easy
So far I find it amazing, although with running in I'm not pushing it. At the moment I have it set in "sport" mode which is just right. Seems to suit the car very well, and a thousand light years better than the dreadful old tiptronic. Yes, I miss the mechanical interaction of the manual sport shift I had in the last Boxster a little bit, but the super quick response more than makes up for it. Maybe sport chrono helps as well, haven't had that before, the new paddle shift sports steering wheel makes a big difference also with PDK, I tried the push-me-pull-me switch arrangement several times and couldn't get on with it, so much so I wouldn't have chosen PDK without that new wheel.
Great exhaust note with the new engine, almost a 911 style growl when firing up.

Superb package DC - you specced this baby very thoughtfully and the result fully justifies the time you spent on it..
Yeah, I'm definitely up for a group drive. Will be heading south as soon as the GTS arrives - could get a delivery date next week.
Looking forward to meeting up with you and Rich and perhaps a few others.... Easy?..
