    all new... AUDI A8L W12 - Kiran Jay Haslam test drive

    Dear Rennteamers,

    As promised here is my take on the all new Audi A8 long wheel base W12. This time 'round the 12 cylinder is direct injected and 0.3-litres larger. It is fantastic. But you need to like that sort of thing. For the time I had it, I loved it!

     Great writeup Kiran. I've driven the old W12 model and its really nice, I can't wait to try the new one out. My only concern with this car is that it doesn't seem to have as much road presence as the old model, in a way it just looks like an amplified A4 from the outside.

    The car does indeed look very modest in terms of road presence but I am very curious how this will fair in the long run.

    I saw a fleet of A8 press cars at the Munich airport several months ago but as far as I remember it did not include the W12 back then.

    Thanks for the report!

    So you consider this car as the limousine for drivers compared to the competition?

    I find that although the Audi is a good looking car it doesn't make a strong impression All I've seen were in dark colours.

    Ferdie, Yep - if it was in late July that you saw those cars in Munich, that was me driving!

    Reginos, it is definitely a driver's limo!

    Emmanuel, I agree - very much a bigger A4, but I must say, if you see the new Touareg, it seems to be the trend these days! I was at the middle east launch of the VW and I saw a few angles that make the car look like a large golf with just a fraction more clearance!
