New 5 Series Order

Well, it is not an M5 but we have ordered MY11 520d for the family. The specs are as follows:

520d Limousine

A52 Space Grey

LCDF Beige/Beige Dakota Leather

2TB Sport Steptronic

255 Sports Steering Wheel

3AG Rear View Camera

4B5 Light Wood Trim

4NB 4 Zone Climate Control

That's all. The car will be driven 70% by the driver, 20% by Me and 10% by my father.

It is going to be November built - End of December delivery.

This time, I get better price from Turkish vendor so I won't import it from Germany as I did with my M3.

Price comes @ 81500 Euro incl. 89% car tax and registration tax

Have you checked whether the Variable Damper Control is any good for this model?

Also check the Active Steering if available on the 520.

It is an excellent model the new 5 series!

So evenif there is EDC option for 520d, it has no use for our needs.

It is 117% for the cars that have larger engine than 2.0L

So it is 117% for my M3 and that's why we are getting 520d instead of 535d. Smiley

Onur, congrats. But, since I again drove 530d without rear steering, edc and active stablisators I think that you made little error in your order. This 530d felt like an Exxon tanker in comparison with 535i equiped with all gizmos. Rear steering adds to driver feel and overall car dynamics-even at city driving speed.

I agree with you, BUT I got my own M3 and will drive this car only from work to home and some other times when I don't feel like driving my M3. This is why we ordered it with rear passanger oriented options such as rear heated seats, rear climate, rear curtains + privacy glass etc.

It won't be my personal DD, it will be our business DD (I work with my father who is a lawyer, too)

I took delivery of a well specced F10 530d (also Space Grey) three weeks ago and actually don't agree with either of you on the tanker comment. Comming from a CaymanS it certainly feels heavy but "tanker" is exaggerated.

Finally, we have delivered our 2011 520d. I had a 100 km trip today just to see how the car drives. First impressions are very positive. I really like the car. I can't think of a better DD if you consider the price. BTW, we don't often have snow here, so SUVs are not essential.

The interior quality is a big step from E60. I like the new dashboard very much; both the material and design. BMW returns back to smooth design and soft touch dash material as we had back in E46. Here are some interior shots:

Light color wood looks very nice with beige leather, IMO. It is an uncommon combination since most people go for the standart darker wood/trim.

New steering wheel (optional sports wheel with paddles) is very nice; both the multi function buttons and soft leather is great. The new insturment cluster is very nice, too. There is a colorful small screen in the bottom of the cluster. New dials very nice and I'm very happy to see that finally BMW is getting rid off ugly cluster design which started with the old 7 series and continued with 1 series, E60 and E9X.

The interior of the new 5 is more roomier than E60. It is very noticeable so I think it is both larger and the new dash design improves the feel. Finally we get rid of the 2nd notch on the dash which looks awful, IMO.

The rear has more room, too and with the rear heated seats and rear A/C, it is now way better than our E60 520d which is 2008 model. Coupled with side/rear curtains and privacy glass, rear seats of the car become very comfortable:

Orange ambient lighting is a very nice touch, too. Even the lights and their controls on the headliner are changed for better design and they improved the feel significantly. They are no more cheap looking.

Combination of stock suspansion with 17" run flat tires are much much comfortable than our old E60 520d with 17" run flat tires. The car is soft. It rides soft, it reacts soft. BUT if you have faith in the chassie, the car corners very nicely and handles well. Yes, there is a body roll and the suspansion is soft. However, it is perfect for daily use.

The new (at least to me) 8 speed autobox operates very smoothly and direct. Because of too many gears, to drive the car in manual mode is not optimum.

Stock 17" wheels are not the best lookign wheels in the world but they are not bad either. First off all, they are comfortable:

Congrats Pride!

You'll love the car even more after couple of weeks. I've done 4000km's now and still don't think of my 530d MSport as "tanker" like. I am however in two minds about the front spoiler on my car. I like the "standard " (yours) front of the F10 and cannot completely shake the feeling that the MSport's spoiler is a dated design on the new car.

Great car, seems perfect for daily use. Colour combination looks great, the 17" rims look very decent for a entry level version.
