Audi R8 V10 LMS racing car...
With a carbonfibre body, a stripped-out interior and 500bhp, this is Audi's V10-engined supercar turned GT3 racer. And it's an extremely good one, too, as Chris Harris finds out...

Next to the 599 GTO and Porsche´s RS models, the R8 LMS would be the car I´d love to drive on a frequent basis.
I do like the concept and specs of the R8 GT roadcar but the aerodynamic / visual modifications on that particular car go against the sleek appearance of the regular versions and look inappropriate in my opinion.
One of the instructors at Scuderia Hanseat drove this:
Amazing sound when he floored it out from the pitlane

997.2 Carrera S in Carrara White. PASM-Sport Suspension (-20 mm), PSE.
987.1 Boxster S in Arctic Silver with 'Martini Racing' design. H&R Monotube Coil-Over Suspension, H&R Anti-Roll Bars, Sachs Racing Clutch, Single-Mass Flywheel, Recaro Pole Position Seats, PSE.
Car manufacturers must LOVE the "Fast&Furious" trends; this way, it is very easy to satisfy peoples taste for fast cars by putting cheap pieces of plastic onto them. Jeez, even porsche goes with this trend; why on earth does the GT2 rs have golden rims?

"Form follows function"
I don't see what the complaints are re the carbon fiber aerodynamic bits (wing, splitter, canards, etc). All the added aero bits look functional to me. If Audi really wanted high downforce, IMO, they could have gone much more crazy. It's all pretty tame.

Very sad thing to happen to such a nice car - surely the question arises as to whether or not manufacturers should accept some liability for faulty design if their cars catch fire so easily?
