Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

They should put a more powerfull diesel (instead 240 bhp, at least 300 bhp)... would be more logical then the Hybrid...

Still not convinced about the Hybrid... only 2 km in electric mode and limited to 50 km/h? If you push hard the hybrid he will not be better on fuel consuption comparing with the S...

In my opinion, the Hybrid only makes sense from a marketing point of view and I get the feeling that this is actually what Porsche intended with it.

A 350-400 HP Diesel would have been the best choice. BMW actually proves with their 35d X5 and X6 models that a high performance Diesel engine can be pretty good, incl. a very impressive low fuel consumption.

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

A Cayenne Diesel with that level of power (and torque) would be perfect... behind the Turbo of course Smiley

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

Yes, come on Porsche, the Toureg has a V8 diesel in it, why can't the Cayenne? Yesterday I drove the S, Turbo, Diesel & Hybrid. Hybrid was fascinating in terms of technology, and I was impressed with the diesel in that it didn't feel as slow as it actually is - but in the same way, the Turbo didn't feel as fast as THAT is!

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

Willial would like to hear a few more of your thoughts on the Diesel as i have not driven one yet. Was the engine smooth,  could you tell straight away it was a diesel, things like this .   Thanks!

Drive the "old" Cayenne Diesel, it is basically the same technology and power output. Smiley

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

Driving the diesel straight after the turbo wasn't as much of a let down as I expected. The turbo definitely had more power than I knew what to do with, but the diesel didn't feel underpowered. It was fine to be honest. I currently drive a BMW 535d I wanted something quicker than that. Of course, the diesel wasn't, but it was a decent car, not as underpowered as I expected. It also helped that they had spec'd the diesels up to look like turbos (21" wheels etc.)

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

The Diesel is highly underpowered but the engine produces a huge amount of torque and this can be very misleading, especially at speeds under 150 kph.

    http://www.planestrainsautomobiles.co.uk/automobiles/porsche-cayenne-orders-top-16000-in-four-weeks

Porsche Cayenne orders top 16,000 in four weeks

The new generation Porsche Cayenne went on sale on May 29, and in the four weeks since over 16,000 orders have been received worldwide. Building on the proven qualities of the prior model, which has become the biggest selling Porsche in the company’s history, the new Cayenne features a driver-oriented chassis that has been designed to combine sports car handling on the road with the added versatility of being able to cover ground quickly and safely, regardless of the terrain.

    Four month order lead time
Visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 1- 4) experienced the outstanding agility of the Cayenne first-hand by enjoying high-speed passenger rides around a specially-designed dynamics course. The Moving Motor Show element of this year’s Festival allowed many more people to get close to the new Cayenne, and generated a significant level of enquiries.

In the UK, over 1,000 orders have already been placed across all model series – Diesel, Hybrid and petrol. Due to this demand customers can expect to wait on average four months between placing their order and taking delivery – a fact that will aid residual values.

Hybrid power captures the public imagination
The technically-sophisticated Cayenne S Hybrid combines the sporting performance of an eight-cylinder engine with the economy of a six-cylinder and is proving to be a popular new addition to the range, accounting for 15 per cent of orders.

At 193 g/km CO2, the Hybrid is not only the Cayenne with the lowest level of emissions, but also the cleanest Porsche throughout the Company’s entire portfolio. This qualifies the Hybrid for Band J vehicle excise duty and annual road tax of £235. Furthermore, the Cayenne S Hybrid returns fuel consumption of 34.4mpg Combined (8.2 litres/100km) reducing running costs further still.

As a consequence of its low emission technology, the Cayenne Hybrid has been confirmed as eligible for exemption from the London Congestion Charge. Customers who live or have reason to travel regularly to the London Congestion Charge zone are able to register their Cayenne Hybrid with the authorities and receive a two year permit for free transit through the area.*

    Porsche Intelligent Performance
The new Porsche Cayenne offers an unrivalled choice of engines in the premium SUV market segment, with Diesel, petrol, turbocharged petrol and Hybrid available. Every Cayenne is a trend-setter in terms of performance and efficiency, courtesy of the principles of Porsche Intelligent Performance; more power on less fuel, greater efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. This philosophy is manifest in the introduction of a new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission featuring a wider spread of gear ratios, an Auto Start Stop function, optimised thermal management on the engine and transmission cooling system, on-board network recuperation, and intelligent lightweight construction.

Where in the US are you that you would have to wait???

Our dealerships here in Los Angeles are loaded with them but I still have yet to see ONE on the street.  I'm already getting calls telling me I'll get a "great deal" from my local salesman.  I would think that it just isn't a great time for luxury SUVs. (though I'll probably be picking one up this fall)

Re: New Cayenne - official data and photos

    She's Here!!

The first thing I noticed was the brake pedal feel, which is a big improvement over the  previous model MY08.

Interior design / fit and finish is perfect, I don't even recall how the back end looks like Smiley

Side mirrors are smaller, but LCA comes in handy with an on/off button or maybe I still need to spend some time adjusting the mirrors while driving to get used to this new small shape.

The Air suspension doesn't go back to normal mode if lowered once before loading mode, I had this problem in my '08 Cayenne and it would only lower itself at high speeds.

I love the new parking sensors and the way it shows you slimy (object) areas where it turns Green, Yellow and Red which can be viewed on the pcm while parking the car.

The turbo bar is digital, no more analog, I was wondering if someone here knows what's the maximum boost from the factory at full throttle ?

I'm still trying to get along with all the buttons and features in this cayenne which makes it look like a computer room (I'm used to the 911's simplicity and manual gearbox, no time to fiddle with pcm while shifting gears  Smiley)

IMO , the auto engine *A* start-stop function is useless, thank god there's a button to switch it off.

Haven't tried the sport button yet, but this pepper does pull hard Smiley

    My option/spec:

    - Jet Black Metallic (Exterior)

    - Leather interior Black (smooth finish)

    - Car Key Painted (Jet Black Metallic)

    - Porsche Crest embossed on head restraints, front + rear

    - Burmester High-end Surround Sound System

    - Telephone module incl. active handset

    - Electric logbook

    - Three-spoke sports steering wheel with paddles

    - LCA (Lane Change Assist)

    - Adaptive Cruise Control

    - PTV+ (Torque Vectoring)

    - Heated windscreen

    - Reversing Camera including Parking sensor front + rear

    - Stainless steel front and rear apron

    - 21" 911 Turbo II wheels with wheel arch extension

    - 18-way adaptive sports seats

Sorry for the cell/mobile low quality pics, but whenever I get the chance, I'll post some high-resolution pics with my D700 Nikon
