    Too over-styled with the dubious styling cues of recent Mercedes (like the bloated rear wheel arches).

    How could Mercedes turn the sleek and elegant original CLS into this baroque creation

    I have to take back my words stated before. Nope - they are not "back on track" with their design.

    Seeing this ready pictures I would say they blew it. The sideline with that funny rear hips looks just outdated and to much like E-Class (yes I know... its the new trademark).

    The new front lights and rear lights are outstandingly ugly.

    And the new cut between the grill and the hood leaves me just speachless. It takes all the spirit of the old cars and massive front hood away. That pieces need to be out of one part. Come one... that's all about this detail!

     Idk what happened, the first couple of pics posted on this thread looked promising. now the red ones come out and it looks terrible, it looks that the AMG package is really going to make or break this car Smiley and that sucks because the old cls was such a great piece of design.

    Mercedes is obviously trying to enter "other" markets with these more recent designs.

    For me they are outside Aesthetics in the European tradition, but perhaps the money exists in these other markets nowadays.

    It was simple and sleek and now it is too busy, they sold 170,000 of the originals so there will be plenty around.
