Tyres: Michelin Pilot Sport K1, specially developed for the 458

Circuit times are similar to Scuderia and the '09 GT3 which cannot be bad.
We have to see the Turbo S and GT2 RS circuit times to put the above in perspective.
Turbo S is Porsche's rival in concept and the GT2RS rival in price.

0-200km 10.0s

Track time is excellent but especially the 0-100 kph time but also the 0-200 kph time is a bit disappointing. I actually expected something closer to 10 seconds flat.
Reminder: the new 997 GT2 RS does 0-200 kph in aprox. 9.5 seconds according to a Porsche source (don't remember if the official specs are already available).

Give credit where credit is due. Ferrari has vastly improve the performance of the next generation 430. 
The S will be hard pressed to turn the Ring with the same numbers.
That said, in this day with many good and cheaper super sport cars the 458 33-50% premium to get similar performance is not a good value. Which leads one back to why buy a Ferrari. Exclusivity, Italian styling and passion. Just don't race the others cars on the street.

Improved indeed in comparison with F430.
BUT... Price of the test car... 250K €...
As I wrote few weeks ago-very, very good results. Nothing more IMHO.

458 on sport tires would be considerably quicker.
Not quite - the Michelins on the 458 are apparently close to Cups in terms of dry performance (SportAuto says so + the wet handling times are that worse that I tend to believe the comment on tyres in the text)
