    GT2 RS

    Hi all,

An engineer from Porsche Stuttgart of the chassis development department has just told to my brother that this new 911 version is being tested nowadays with an awesome 620 Hp engine!!! When he told me that i couldnt believe it! Porsche dont usually  make this incredible power increase... !! but...:D!

    good news..

    cheers

    Re: GT2 RS

    Very intersting indeed!

    Re: GT2 RS

    honestly i don't think so.....

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

100% agree. This is most unlikely...

    Re: GT2 RS

.....unless they are developing something for the FIA GT1 World Championship that come on line next year.

The rules for this will come out in June, so then we can see if it makes sense or not.

Also - 620bhp is too high.

    Re: GT2 RS

I think so 620 hp sounds too high but i told you only what he said.. and is an inside porsche engineer from chassis department stuttgart..!

    Re: GT2 RS

620PS is too much unless they restrict the torque to ~750NM..... the GT2 is very well balanced and too much torque will ruin this balance (IMO) and it is unlikely that Porsche will produce a car like this, they have never done before......

Also to get to over 600 real Porsche PS would require some special intercoolers (I know that Porsche engineers consider 600PS the maximum with their current intercoolers) - Porsche have not used anything special like this since the Secan on the 993GT2 EVO race cars, and they are unlikely to do so again because of the cost....

    Re: GT2 RS

Hey MKSGR didn't you say that WR did a 7:19 at the 'ring on tuesday in a "stock" GT2? Maybe it was a mule for the RS.

    Re: GT2 RS

The most obvious element which throws doubt on Porsche producing a very powerful GT2 is the limitation of the stock intercooling. It is now pretty well known that the GT2 in its 530PS trim is producing high intake air temperatures and is near the limits of its standard intercoolers.

We know that Porsche likes to produce engines (GT ones at least ;) ) which can maintain ther rated hp under track conditions so to increase the power for a GT2 "RS" to anything much over 550PS would require some serious hardware in the intercooling department and the cost of which Porsche bean counters would not pallette IMO with sophisticated intercoolers costing north of 5K Euro....

Some interesting sound bites on this topic in the link below

    http://excellence-mag.com/art1/art1p1.html

So my guess is if Porsche do produce the GT2 RS it will have a solid 550/560PS be 50kg lighter and a sharper chassis in which guise it will be a ring meister.....

    Re: GT2 RS

620 ps is just a mule

mules always run engines with more hp  - to test them.

in normal life it will be about 560 hp

    Re: GT2 RS

Maybe the engine is for something other than a GT2. Possibly for another mid-engine model?

I get what you saying but then how can they make the claims of 0-200kmh in 9s and 0-300kmh in less than 25s is its not producing at least 600bhp? Smiley

If you read the other thread you will see that people are accepting the 620PS, looks like the OP was correct all along - a welcome change of direction from PorscheSmiley

At the end of the day, product improvement is driven by competition. We all should thank Nissan, GM and other car manufacturers for getting Porsche off its cavalier smug ass and producing a product worthy of the Porsche name and legend.
