458 Italia test in Quattroruote - incredible results

May seem incredible, but Quattroruote results are usually verified later by other magazines. 458 is significantly faster than any competitor at any speed. 458 is also faster than Scuderia on Vairano, despite using normal Pilot Sport tires. Smiley

3.3 seconds from an RWD-car is extraterrestial.

    0-160 in 6.5 is insane!

From all that I could experience so far, I can tell you this car feels incredibly quick.

    458 measured weight in 1533kg.

Numbers are excellent and are suggesting that 0-300km/h for 458 is below 30s...

Re: 458 Italia test in Quattroruote - incredible results

Those numbers equal the best numbers ever achieved for the McLaren F1 from tha famous Autocar Magazine Road Test. Even the new Zonda successor with have trouble matching those numbers.

Re: 458 Italia test in Quattroruote - incredible results

0-200 kph under 10 seconds and 0-250 in 16 seconds? Wow, Porsche needs to recover a lot of terrain with their future high performance models. Impressive 458 performance figures, indeed.

Official numbers for the 458 are as follows:

1.485 kg in best version, what means SRS and sport wheels
    1.515 kg in standard version

EU-driver and luggage add another 75 kg.

Re: 458 Italia test in Quattroruote - incredible results

1533kg is measured weight by Quattroruote, ready to drive-without driver. If you ask me it is little bit more then expected-still OK I guess since numbers are impressive(acceleration). That means that average 458 with standard seats and wheels will be in 1540-1550kg area.

Remember the difference in perfomance between two California examples that EVO tested? One, with sporty equipment was faster then fully equiped example(and difference was almost 100kg!). OK, with 458 that much weight difference is not possible. BUT... If you order lifting system, full electric seats and JBL sound system you can be at 1580kg level.

where are the guy that said here in the forum, that   he tried his TURBO PDK vs  458 and always was faster than the 458 ?!?!

    Xandi,

458 that is owned by my Italian friend is new car with 4800kms on clock. When I drove it in all honesty it did not feel that fast to me like Quattroruote numbers suggest. Also, from 120km/h-240km/h on autostrada it wasnt any faster then 997.2 Turbo PDK(with Sport Plus on) that I drove(my friend was in his 458). He later explained to me that he did NOT pushed 458 all the way. So, here is the conclusion-458 IS faster then 997.2 Turbo PDK if you use all revs in 458.

BUT, in real world situation with traffic on autostrada or autobahn my pretty accurate guess is that 458 is not any faster then 997.2 Turbo PDK or 997.2 Turbo S.

Also, there is huge difference is FEEL of acceleration in turbo vs. NA engine sportscars. Turbo engine with similar output always FEELS stronger. At least in my experience...

Sport wheel rims save another 19KG at the wheel, that's alot but the standard wheel look better.

Did you ordered TIRES TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM?

    How reliable is that now?

Just for comparison: my BMW X5 M needs around 30 seconds from 0-250 kph and this isn't a slow car (not that I tested it myself, I took it from a video).

The 458 is 14 seconds faster from 0-250 kph than my X5 M, this is outstanding.

They measure weight differently. I guess they add 100kg for driver/luggage or so.

Because 997.2 GT3 weight was 1593kg, whereas the same example in different mag weighed 1493kg.

This can't be true; the Italians are lying once again! I was assured by the Porschephiles of this forum that Ferraris are slower than Porsches and that German cars rule! Damn those spaghetti munchers...

Please excuse the outbust, I am not trying to pick a new fight (and I am not going to respond either), but I received a lot of stick for stating the obvious fact that Ferraris are almost always quicker than the comparable Porsches.

    That 0-200 time is amazing!!!

Re: 458 Italia test in Quattroruote - incredible results

Hmmm... so the fact that the Enzo was FAR quicker than the Carrera GT, the F430 quicker than the 997.1 TT and the Scuderia quicker than the 997 GT2 (and i know that I am going to be disputed about the latter 2 examples but I have proof) was a huge hoax? Ok then... let's not get into it then. Cheers!

Am I the only one who thinks that these cars are way too quick? I mean, can anyone really tell the difference between a car that does 0-200 in 11s and another that takes 9.5s?

100-0 deccaliration is more then expected, 36.9m, and I belive ferrari quoted low 32m

Very wise of you Smiley The GT Mk2 is just around the corner. If you take a quick look at the test results of the GT3 RS you will get a notion what kind of performance the GT2 Mk2 will deliver Smiley Then again: no chance Ferrari Smiley You see, we are very convinced of our views Smiley

P.S.: Honestly, we know Ferrari's and Porsche's from intense track comparisons. In the end these cars are today all very fast and also quite reliable. The difference is more a matter of taste as the feel of - let's say a Scuderia or 458 - is completly (!) different from the feel of a GT3 or GT2. From an engineering perspective one has to say that Porsche still has leading know-how as GT3 or GT2 would be much (!) quicker if they were available with PDK already. Of course, it is Porsche's fault that PDK is not yet available for the GT models... In the end, Porsche delivers same or better track performance with less engine power and with a gear-box that costs you about 1s per lap compared to hyper fast PDK/F1 technology.

Re: 458 Italia test in Quattroruote - incredible results

You forgot to mention that Porsche uses R compound semi slick tyres on its GT models though and those sticky tyres amount for much more than 1 sec/lap.

This is not supposed to be a F v P thread though. What do youy reckon about the performance of the 458 MKSGR?

QR has probably different approach to this test and their distances are longer than normal.

458 here needed 3m less than SLS, which needed only 33m in german mags. So we might see results around 30m in other magazines.
