    Picked up my new car last week...

    it's a compromise, but a lovely one: GOLF R with DSG, 4 door in graphit blue.

    My first impressions are very good: perfect daily driver, it's easy to get my little one in and out of the baby seat, it's rather comfortable thanks to DCC and sporty if driven in S. The drivetrain feels very good, all smooth and pretty fast, with niche noises on downshifts... The car feels very stable and planted also in the wet, one feels like sliding it rightaway thanks to the confidence it gives. 

    The thrust is ok, certainly better than that of a GTI who feels too bland for my taste and lacks 4wd. But nothing compared to the Porsche turbos etc (ok, i'm spoiled!). On a B road in bad weather conditions though i think this car will be very fast and pleasant to drive...  

    So far I can highly recommend it if you look for a sporty cruiser in a small size with 4WD...

     Good buy, that is a very comfortable little car for a daily driver. I like both the Golf R and the Scirocco R very much. Congrats, but post some pics too.

    Congrats!  I am a fan of Golf GTI, Golf R and the new Polo GTI.  Waiting to see what the Polo GTI drives like when it is finally in the hands of the media and I can make a decision on which to buy as my city car.  Wished they shoehorned the Golf R drivetrain into the Polo!

    Congrats!  I am a fan of Golf GTI, Golf R and the new Polo GTI.


    Congratulations! Great car and high on my list as well. According to a recent AMS interview with de Silva [design] and de Meo [marketing] Volkswagen wants to intensify the GTI model lineup and, judging by their words, the Polo GTI is supposed to become similiarly promising as the Golf GTI.

    I also think all those are very good cars. I should also mention the interior which is fabulously made: the finish is really Audiesque, except that it feels more modern than the A3 who has grown old imo.

    The only downside so far is that my wife doesnt like Golfs and VWs at all: being American she thinks that brand is something like a Ford and would never spend money on it! I've promised her that we look at the new Cayenne so she is happy and can take a pole position in the suburbs moms grid..Smiley

    Personally i would be keener on the Polo GTI rather than to the Golf GTI, which in my taste is to polished and lacks the sportiness (feelingwise) the early Golf GTi s had (with 110 and 115 HP!). The Golf R has some 'urge' and I guess the Polo will too due to its size and weight. 

    What I particularly like about the R though is that in a colour like mine it looks very unintrusive and understated. Smiley Might post some pics these days.

     I'll give it a wash first...

    this just came out and sums it up well. If u want a hooligan car get a Subaru, Focus RS or similar, if you don't really want to be associated with that genre get the R.

     tthis is a picture of the colour I found on the web. this car has 18 rims though, not 19 i believe. In nature it changes between black and blue depending on the light, almost somewhat like the BMW M color carbonschwarz metallic.

    Under such conditions it could be faster than most Porsches, unless driven by experts.

    I like the concept behind the Golf R (compact,non-ostentatious, fast and stable, quality product and all purpose daily car), but it is on the expensive side, I think.

     I've seen the color before its a blueish-dark grey. imo one of the coolest colors in the lineup.

    Congrats Turbolite,i have the GTI VI DSG and i'm really happy,unfortunately when i bought it,the R wasn't again on sale.

    True, and the VW quality is above comparable cars.
