    Ding/Dent Removal Help needed

took the X6M out today to comment on brake-dive issue and just on the min road someone exits his parking spot without looking in the mirror.........

luckily the damage is only as minor as can be seen.

does anyone know if this area can be reached from inside the wheelwell protection or will i have to go through metal to fix it ?

maybe someone can have his BMW dealership get bck to us on this ? unfortunately at my dealership they can't tell without having the car and i am currently 600 kms away.

    all input greatly appreciated.

especially if any of the X6 owners here would be so kind to check with their dealers.......Smiley

If it cant be tapped out from the rear, it will probably be filled, or you could have the panal replaced but i soppose thats abit over the top just for a slight ding.

Simliair ding to the one on my golf, some guy hit me on a junction, been waiting to get it repaired for over 12 months and their insurance arent getting back to usSmiley

my question is IF it is possible to tap it out from the back or if it is surrounded by solid metal ? i will certainly not have it filled....

    Re: Ding/Dent Removal Help needed

I just showed to my mechanic the photos, he told me that it is difficult to tell until he doesn't see the car but it is a difficult job for simple tapping out since there is a margin involved.

We have a special service in Germany called Dellfix but I doubt that it is going to be any help to you in Egypt, sorry.

    You could try this: http://www.dellfix.de/navigator_1/index1.html

Sorry to hear about your mishap, it really sucks if somebody damages your property, I know the feeling too well. Smiley

I suppose, due to the kink and the slight paint damage you won´t get away with bending alone. Nonetheless, for the circumstances you describe this is only minor damage that should be easily solved.

Too bad this happened when you intended to give additional insight on the brake dive issue.

    Re: Ding/Dent Removal Help needed

    thanks for the input.

it is no problem to have it done here as we have good bodyshops...

however, i really was looking to find out if that area is accecible from behind it or if it is a solid area ?

if not accesible than it will be a pita....

if accessible it will be tapped out and sprayed....

if someone coud get me info on accessibility that would be bsolutely gret !

rc, mybe you could show the pic at your dealership if you give them a visit.

    THANKS

    THANKS

I told you before, I showed it to the mechanic and he needs to see the car, he can't say if there is solid metal or if there is a possibility to work on it. As far as I understood it is possible (whatever this means) but the paint won't stay on due to the position of the dent.

My mechanic told me that their body shop would decide this on a case to case scenario how to proceed and what method to use.

At Dellfix, I once saw how the mechanic used some sort of sucking utility with which he got out the dent without a scratch. Only thing I know is that they made that part where the dent was in pretty warm.

    Re: Ding/Dent Removal Help needed

yup that's called paintless dent repair or something....

it's an appliance where you apply glue and a suction cup and then pull the dent out.

anyways......i might just leave it where it is for now till i get a chance to take it to a good body shop.

thank you for your kind input.
