    Gary, you have to understand what a basic engine design means. It doesn't mean that you take a basic engine design and all parts from different cars fit.
    As soon as I have more conclusive information without unveilling my source, I post it here. Right now it seems like beating a dead horse because I really can't say more and I can't expect you guys to believe this information if there isn't more of it.
    I'll come back to this thread over the next few months, you can bet on that.

    You make a good point, the Audi V8 has a bore/stroke of 84.5 x 93.0 and the Porsche V8 has 93.0 x 83.0. Does the Audi block have that much room to grow?

    Bitter or Better? I would rather be informed so I can make better decisions. RC just gave us something to think about. I went to Porsche recent history of priorities and RC gave us technical insights. If this turns out to be true and it ruins your resale value, then who will be bitter.

    This is not surprising to me if true, because so much already has come from VW/Audi.

    Quattro GmbH modifies an Audi S6 enigne into an RS6. They are to Audi as AMG is to Mercedes, just on a much, much smaller production scale. Quattro GmbH is in my opinion one of the most prestigous racing tuners, especially when you look at their contributions to rally. I don't think it is disgusting that they use one of their engines as basis. Disgusting is too harsh of word.

    It would be disgusting if they used a "foreign" powerplant in their current/upcoming 996/997/998, because that is Porsche tradition - Porsche's soul. The 911, the sports car. The Cayenne is an SUV, and very different from anything Porsche has ever created. In many considerations it is not a Porsche at all.

    RC,

    i do believe this rumour. sounds reasonable to me. why reinvent the wheel...

    and a company who is installing VW engines wouldn't flinch from using an audi engine as a basis for their "own" V8 IMO

    Yes, Mike, you have right!!! and i think for the Carreras or Boxster, They CANT use Audi engines, becauso Porsche use BOXER engines...
