North American RS5 fans, this is directly from Audi USA press site:

At this time, the RS 5 is not planned for the USA.

    Sorry!

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

    Here are my 2nd thoughts:

Well, RS5 is a handsome Car. Especially flared arches at the back and the new retractable rear spoiler looks very nice. Rear lights and diffuser looks like Maserati GT. Front is very nice, too.

The car had gorgeous instrument panel (IMO, biggest pro over M3) and the interior is very very nice especially with Recaro buckets.

Engine is a gem. However, with 450 hp it has 30 hp over M3 coupe BUT carries 100 kg (220 lbs) more than M3 coupe.

So power to weight ratio is similar for both cars (I mean M3 and RS5) so I don't expect RS5 to be much faster than M3 coupe; both have 7 speed double clutch, too (well, it is an extra option on M3)

For the Ring Times, E92 M3 laps the Ring in 8:05 minutes according to AMS (H. V. Saurma) ; with comp. pack, it is said to be 5 sec faster; so they lap the Ring with almost the same pace.

Now, all we have to see is how RS5 drives  Personally I always prefer RWD Car with Front engine over front engine AWD, especially if the RWD car has LSD.

Just, you are right-it is from configurator...

As soon as configurator is on line for public I will post the link.

I think this is the car Kreso configure for himself; it also has Recaro bucket seats Smiley

    Kreso,

You have changed your mind so many times for the last couple of months about which car to buy, so unless I see the pictures of your RS5 on your driveway, I will not congratulate you Smiley

    KresoF1:
280km/h limiter option includes Carbon items for engine bay.
Sport exhaust system features Black tailpipes and is not included in 280km/h option mentioned above.
RS5 sounds great with standard exhaust and even better with Sport Exhaust. At least as good as R8 V8...Smiley

    Thanks Kreso! Smiley

So it seems that the new RS5 may be as quick as the R8 V8 around the Nurburgring, while sounding at least as good as this excellent motor...

    ...that's just awesome!

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

Here is a link for the lap times of various cars at the Ring:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%BCrburgring_lap_times

According to H.V.Saurma from AMS R8 V8 laps the Ring 8:04; so RS5 should be quicker according to info written in this thread.

    Sorry!

... that was exactly my fear and why I went ahead with my S5 order (enjoying very well thank you).  My thinking was that the RS5 was the type of quiet and under-the-radar performance that would do well in Europe right now, thus Audi would make more money by satisfying European demand with all ot the RS5 production rather than needing to ship a bunch of them at the much lower NA prices.   If this is correct, they might bring the car to US/Canada at the end of the car's life, however the RS  models usually only have 2 years of life... so it is still highly uncertain.

Still, I will leave my name on the almost mythical "RS5 list" as the dealer cannot even ask for a deposit until NA production is confirmed.... and  of course I am now a "valued customer"....   Smiley

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

I highly doubt this car will be faster on the 'ring than the R8 with 300+ extra pounds and less than 50 extra hp.

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

the diff is a hint to such NR times, my friend

    Not 100kg, just 50kg between M3 DKG and RS5

I too would prefer the M3. The RS5 may be more competent overall but the M3 will likely be the better drive. But what do I know, I still prefer my E39 M5 to both (never driven the RS5 though).

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

Why are BMW and Nissan fans ruin every thread about Audi models?

We had good and competitive conversation in this thread until post like yours appear...

M3 is very, very good car indeed. JUST-RS5 is better car overall and faster one.

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

     rs5 vs everybody

a new generation diff - all four wheels are torque-dynamic

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

Hmmm... Why haven't they but a flat bottom steering wheel in it! This looks to normal.

I mean you can get it in A3, for god sake!

Did you drove an Audi with flat bottom steering wheel(R8, RS6, TTS for example)?

    No?

IMHO flat bottom steering wheel is ONLY nice to look at. Total pain in the ass for parking. Same thing for driving on very curvy road a la Gorski Kotar...

Why do you think Porsche never offered flat bottom steering wheel? Because it is IMHO an option for 18 year old kid-that's it.

New RS5 steering wheel is round(Thank God!) and smaller in size the S5 steering wheel for example.

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

i totally agree with you Kreso. I tested TTRS and RS6 with flat bottom steering wheel and i cleary prefer the round steering wheel. It's more easy to use when you want to correct oversteer ;-)

flat bottom steering is "just for look" not for pilot ,-)

    Re: Audi RS5 in Geneva

Kreso I'm not bashing the car, its a discussion forum, simply stating my opinion. I even said I haven't driven the RS5 so how could I really know. My prediction is the RS5 is the better overall car, probably faster above 60 mph, but less involving/fun to drive.

In the same way that a 911 C2S and GT2 are more " sporting " than a C4S and Turbo to the "enthusiast ", there will never be an end to the RS4 vs M3 " driving feel"  debate .

It's just the way it is for a company whose brand identity is  (heavier) AWD in their Quattro versions  , no matter what they do with drivetrain layout/weight distribution/torque assignment to mitigate its effect  from a subjective seat of the pants handling /steering standpoint.

I prefer to think of  the RS4 as  the "M3 for every climate " and the M3 as  the "RS4 for Miami " !

Each honed perfectly to its brand identity , as it should be, and leave it at that.
