    Re: Panamera sales January 2010

    nberry:

Two months ago the Porsche salesman begged me to test drive the Panamera. I refused because I view the car as a choice for family transport and given the choice I would choose the Cayenne. I don't like to waste my time.

I'm always curious about and enjoy trying other cars, even if is not the type I'm interested in purchasing, it serves as a comparative base for judging the ones I'm interested in, and broadens my view.

    Re: Panamera sales January 2010

Though a lawyer, I am a very forthright  and honest individual. Why should I take the time of the salesperson, dealership and put miles on the car when I have absolutely no intention of buying the car? If there was a remote possibility of me doing so, I would test drive it. Otherwise as I indicated earlier, I do not want to waste my and the dealership time.

    Re: Panamera sales January 2010

Those cars are for that purpose, the delaership looses nothing, and you can be honest with the saleman and tell him that you don't intend to buy the car. Most likely if you are a good client or knowledgeable car person with an interest in cars, he will be glad to show you the car anyway, because if you liked the car (maybe not for you in particular but for what it is and intended for) you may refer a potential client in a friend or family member. Also your needs and preferences may change down the line and who knows what can happen. They know that so they are more than happy to let you test it. And if you think testing a Panamera is a waste of time for you then you are less of a car fan than I thought, even though the Panamera is not my cup of tea, I enjoyed testing it.

Same here. Smiley I even testdrove a Dacia Logan a couple of months ago, had an offer as a "delivery car" for my business from a local dealer here. Not worth mentioning. Smiley

I agree to some degree, I am/was in a similar situation with a friend who runs the local Maserati/Aston Martin dealership. If he wouldn't be a friend though, I would have tested all the different models, simply because I would have be interested from a car enthusiast point of view. Being a friend, I didn't want to waste his time and/or create false hopes, so I didn't take the various occasions to testdrive the cars. I regret it but I also feel that I've done the right thing. I wouldn't have any problems with other dealers testdriving their cars, they may even appreciate a honest feedback.

Christian, your position is correct and honest.

But if it is not worth for you to test a car, it doesn't implicate that the car isn´t worth for being tested. And if you don´t test how can you make statements about the car.

This is why I never commented on Aston Martin. Smiley

This is the problem with many people who express opinions (even strong opinions) not only about cars but also about everything else Smiley

Guys any idea when the Panamera coupe is due ? Any time frame ? So far no confirmation. Any inside info ?

According to a rumor, the Panamera Coupe, if it comes (all future Porsche models are under review from VW right now regarding profitability/etc.), should be available around 2012/2013, together with a possible facelift.

The question will be what platform the Coupe will use... Smiley

    Thanks RC. Great stuff.
