    Santa left a brand new X5M ....

    Exactly at 23.12., a day before the holy night, he came over to me and gave me a X5M in Carbon Black Metallic with Cinnamon Full Leather Merino.

    The X5 also has the following equipment further:
    Piano black trim
    4-zone climate  
    Privacy glass
    Rear window shades
    iPod and USB adapter
    Head-up Display 
    Rear View Camera with Top View 
    Automatic high beams
    Navigation System Professional with full Internet access and bluetooth interface

    M Driver's Package (Vmax 275 kph instead of 250 kph)

    Just now i’ve got no experience with this new car since I'm not practically taken it over Christmas. My experiences relate to a test car in white, which I drove up to 14 days.

    I was lucky to capture this X5 in carbon black will as this be one of the last available on stock. The direct, first comparison with my current Cayenne, however, shows that the X5 in the whole look and feel is more modern. After a ride in the X5 and again in the Cayenne, there is such a feeling as if you go back 2 generations. Still, the Cayenne is valued and quite stable, with high perceived quality. The X5 is more modern and subtle, with a fragile touch imho.

    Here are some pics from a specific location in Munich, an old factory building.

    The color “carbon black” in low light has more an effekt in black. When exposed to direct light rather dark blue.

    Congrats this car looks beautiful, I love in particular the Piano Black trim!    From their latest products I am glad to see that BMW is back among the very greatest and most desirable car manufacturers!

    I really envy you.   Beautiful car and nice photos, please keep them coming...

    Stupid request regarding the interior: could you make a shot without flash ? I'm not quite sure if the leather color is really that bright ?

    I was thinking of changing my interior color from Black to Criollo Brown, I think this goes pretty well with the Saphire Black exterior color but I'm not sure if I should do it.

    Nice. Loved that carbon black, it's just like the midnight blue I got on my turbo. That cinnamon color looks awfully close to the standard X5's saddle brown interior color.

    For your orientation, the best way to see the color  „cinnamon“ in the 1st and 3rd pic. 
    Both were taken without flash.  (in order of appearance, in the section "Interior Shots" ).

    Below are 2 more  pics, taken without flash.
    The 3rd is a good comparison as it was taken WITH flash.

    Griollo brown suits of course to saphirschwarz.

    Thanks again, Conny. Unfortunately it was too late to change the order to Criollo Brown. The risk that the delivery of my ordered X5 M is delayed was too high, my dealer warned me about it and I didn't want to wait even longer for my car.

    You have a beautiful car, Conny. Your car photos actually make it easier for me to anticipate my X5 M. Just can't wait... 

    Btw: mid of January I should get an estimated delivery date. Right now, I have only a very vague delivery date of March 1st. 2010.

    A business friend of mine, we're both in the real estate business, was  offering from a dealer a X5M in carbon black on stock and fully equipped. He doesn’t hesitate long and agreed immediately . I'm pretty surprised how well the X5M is doing in Germany.

    Now we’re have the same car and same exterior colour either . Nice to look at doing our job.
    The only difference:
    While I stick on the original „M“ winterwheels in 255, he chose the original X6M wheels but with snow tires in 315. Not bad…..

    I have seen quite a few X5 M and I believe they're doing very well in the U.S. too.  I have a feeling that BMW didn't even think their new X5/X6 M would turn into such hot cars.

    BMW is doing intelligent pricing on the X5M... at least in Germany. I doubt that similar offers are being put in Spain. Here, an X5M and a Cayenne Turbo have almost the same image.

    A different story will be in a year time when the used X5M market pops up...

    Yes, "intelligent" pricing is right but BMW also profits from the bad Cayenne image over here in Germany. We have a fragile society right now, where many people are still afraid to loose their job and/or are brainwashed by the german media that everybody owning his own business (or working for a bank Smiley) is rich, spoiled and anti-social. Smiley

    So driving a BMW X5 in this environment is some sort of secret weapon against prejudice and envy. Of course the X5 is still a luxury SUV and many people realize this but since we have tons of X5 here in Bavaria, nobody really seems to care about the X5.

    Most of the X5 M are leased I think, so I doubt that there will be a huge used car market with these cars over the next 2-3 years. After that...well... Smiley

    Right now, there are 16 used X6 M listed in the german BMW used car system but not a single X5M.

    I'm even thinking about getting the same H rated tires BMW used in that AMS X6M winter tire test because I'm pretty sure that BMW selected these tires for a reason. Smiley

    So far as I understood he is rather satisfied with the traction despite of the 315.
    Btw. my own experience with the 255 - V rated is excellent in traction and stability.
    Don't know wether the H rate is necessary.
    The AMS tested all competitors with the H tire though,  the X6M couldn't be the exeption with the stock V

    Some of the cars in the AMS review had V winter tires.

    I just hope there won't be any snow anymore when I get my X5 M. It would be insane to spend another 2400 EUR for a winter wheel set just for a couple of remaining days of winter. If it is going to snow at that time, I'm going to keep the X5 M in my garage until it warms up a little bit. Still having hopes for an early spring start after this harsh (or better said: not so mild as before) winter.

    Mitsubishi, Nissan and of course the Turbo are with the V.
    Confusing to see that the Turbo lost the comparison in the AMS while he got in the "Autobild Sportcars" the 1st place even with the exactly same car (Look at the plate).Smiley

    Litte update on my X5M

     

    Here's a little update on my X5M:

    After more than 5,000 km I have to admit that the car is really great and I am very happy with it. Smiley
    The average consumption amounts 18,8 liters 100/km. (12,51 mpg)

    Till the last Wednesday the car always runs in a great condition and without the slightest technical flaw. But then:
    The display showed an error on the Dynamic Drive and the message on the monitor:
    „Dynamic Drive has failed. Please drive very carefully on winding roads“ (or so)
    I brought the X5M in. The AGS controller was defective and had to be changed.
    The repair took 5 days because all the cars software had to be reinstalled.
    Annoying: all driver's settings were lost.

    But the good news for me:
    I could finally get the M-Drivers-Package installed within the same time and effort.
    The necessary control software is on a DVD (pic) which was individually released by the M-GmbH. Now my X5M runs again, everything is ok now and the top speed amounts 275kp/h. Smiley
    But at this speed it takes 26 liters 100km (9 mpg)! Smiley
    (Don't tell it my neighbours)
