    Ah yes, Lotus Land Smiley

Had an 01 540 a while back, what a sweet car; torque, torque, torque. The M5 was a dream car of mine for a while but I never got around to it Smiley

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

That's a nice collection of M5's, but what the hell have US-regulations done to that poor E28...

The difference with a EU-spec is painful.

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

yup its all over the range, it was the same for the e30...

Beautiful cars! I wish I could have been there. I will post some more pics of my Le Mans e39 M5 soon. Lots of maintenance and subtle mods latley, the car is so close to perfection. By the way congrats on your friend's E34, my second favorite M5 generation!

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

Still haven't sold the 951, but it needs to be done eventually. As far as mods on the E39:

-Straight Pipe Exhaust (sounds crazy but simply removing the mufflers transform the sound, no drone, not too loud at all, I can't believe people actually pay $1500+ for aftermarket exhaust on this car! I now live for tunnels )

-Short Shift and Double Shear Selector Rod (shorter, crisper, huge improvement to the driving experience)

-Dinan Rear Sway-Bar (reduces understeer tendancy of these cars, noticeably more balanced and neutral handling)

-Dinan Monoball Control Arm Bushings (crazy expensive but it is supposed to tighten the steering improving feel and feedback, I have not had time to take the car to the twisties yet but it definitely is stiffer, can't wait to try them out for real!)

    -Ipod Connector

Still need to install a Dinan replica cold air intake and 540i brake ducts. Next up are headers, chip tune, and shocks/springs. I have also spent thousands on needed and preventative maintenance in the past 6 months. The car is so pristine I really hate to put miles on it!

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

    Wow Aron,

beautiful pics, nice cars, well photographed in front of an excellent backdrop...

Trip, with 951, you mean a 944 turbo? Care to post some pics of that as well? ;-)

    Joost,

Yes it is a 1987 944 Turbo, white over burgundy. I will post pictures of both cars in time, the M5 next time I take it somewhere scenic and the 944 when I am ready to sell it  I posted a thread about 6 months ago with pictures of both cars if you are interested.

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

I wish i could buy your 951 i remember the pictures, it's my first dream car. I only had a 944 brielfy, but it was ratbagged and had  to be gutted and parted. The 951 is a beauty though, i feel like a child in one. It is just so different and sweet. With easy mods its seriously fast as well. How much would you be asking for your 951 if she goes on the market?

As for your M5 mods, wow!! Very good choices, i can only imagine how she will sound in the tunnels. M5s have the potential to sound OUT OF THIS WORLD!! There`s this new one in Victoria that sounds 2x crazier than a straightpipe CGT!!

You are going all out there with headers and chip suspension tune, Can`t wait for the pics of it, take some along the way of upgrades for us too eh?

I'm probably going to ask for roughly $10k for the 951 and parts. It has 2 exhaust options, 2 transmissions (1 LSD), uninstalled shocks and springs all around, chip, etc. With less than 100,000 miles and in good condition I think this is a realistic price.

The M5 mods have really improved the driving experience. The sound is american muscle at low rpm and pure exotic near redline. It is seriously quick, 3rd gear is an adrenaline rush. The planned mods will be done in stages and pictures will be taken Smiley

I will probably do the suspension this year, headers and chip will most likely have to wait as I want them done properly (jet hot ceramic coating and powerchip custom program).

Im thinking of buying a miata track car/daily beater to keep the miles low on the E39... But then I think, why not use the 951 for that?

haha that's right... as for the speed, its riddled with cops. I've only ever gotten two tickets and one was up there at 135km/h. Needless to say they also pulled over a lambo and an F430 right behind me, both did less than 135km/h so i got a laugh out of it Smiley

A good 944 turbo is still a work of beauty, no matter what the mainstream opinion about it is ;-)

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

The more I think about it, the more I want to keep the 951. I want to keep the miles low on the E39 and the 951 is such a fun car! Eventually the 951 could be biased more for track duty. Not a bad combo...

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

I say keep it for sure!! Its a solid car. Yours is btw also getting quite rare. Believe me i've been looking at them for 5 years now. the sad thing is most of them have been destroyed/mishandled quite a bit.

By the way, how come you say "pint" with such a weird accent?  Smiley

Smiley   Just as you do, probably.

I was just trying to imply that you must pronounce it weirdly, since you wanted to award "points" as a prize in your competition, not "pints".

I wouldn't be able to do a damn thing with 10 points, but  -  spread over a few days  -  I could quite happily consume 10 pints.  (I enjoy an occasional beer, but am not a "binge drinker" Smiley ).

Don't you just hate it when you have to explain a joke.  Smiley

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

Well perhaps if I were a bit more clever you would not have to explain it.  By the way the road is Skyline Boulevard which runs along the ridge between the Pacific ocean and the southern half of San Francisco bay. It really is an amazing road, great curves, elevation changes, straight aways, and breathtaking views on both sides. When I find the battery to my DSLR I will take some proper pics up there.

    Re: M5 Vancouver Meet

sweet, i will make sure this road is in my USA roadtrip next summer! Going 9000kms roundtrip so far!!!

Yes proper pics would be much appreciated. Plus im in love with blue BMWs right about now ( i wonder why )
